SMPMBT patched to 3.5, and probably my ignorance...

I was playing a campaign with a weak battalion-sized Mercenary force (Green) versus Zimbabwe (bound to collapse soon). And after the first game I suddenly find myself tasked with advancing through villages in South America! Against Americans!!!

What is happening and how do I change it?

Thanks in advance.

That's a generated campaign, right?
Did you check the default allied countries in the start screen? You know, you can select two additional allies to your main enemies. I don't know what the default are (may include USA), so if you left them untouched they may have kicked in at some point.
Besides, Green OOB is supposed to be more South-America than Africa-based, so maybe this interfered with the battle locations as well.

I did chose Zimbabwe for all three enemy nations, so that is not it, and you are probably right about the Green force's influence on it, I had sort of guessed that from the names and ranks of commanders ;-)

I'll look into this next month when we start work on the next upgrade. Just to confirm this is a generated campaign with Green Vs Zimbabwe for all three enemy nations. Is there anything else I should know like the year or if you won / lost/ draw? ( it could affect how things progress....)

It sould not have lost it's "lock" on Zimbabwe and given you the US. However, I have tested a campaign between green and Zimbabwe through 6 battles and all came back Green Vs Zimbabwe. Do you have a save game ?
