Is there a list of mercenaries anywhere?

When I get an offer, I can't tell the stats of the commander or the units (just the number). It would be very nice to have a list of this.

Thanks,
Z

There isn't one, most people know what the mercs are anyway. You could look up the Dom2 DB, there was a list of mercenaries included there that was originally compiled by Sunray and altered very little. Most of those mercs are exactly the same in Dom3.

Yup, there is one here: http://lynn.tlfer.net/wiki/farm/dominions/Unit/Mercenary.html

It's a very active wiki on Dominions 3... Only in chinese. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Nice. I like Chinese http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

They seem to be quite productive.

You bet. They even have pages for Pythium serpent cult (http://lynn.tlfer.net/wiki/farm/dominions/RaceTheme/SerpentCult.html) and Fomoria (http://lynn.tlfer.net/wiki/farm/dominions/RaceTheme/TheCursedOnes.html), albeit only placeholders so far. But they're definitely quite busy.

It just doesn't have the unit numbers for the different types of heavy infantry etc.

You can find Dom2 DB here:
http://www.strife.com/dominions-2/files.htm
Scroll down enough on the page and you'll hit the unit and magic site DBs.

many thanks. the chinese wiki plus dom3 db works well enough I think.

Dom2 DB. There is a big difference between those two documents, believe me. The mercenary list is the only relevant part of that document. Dom3 DB is the document I'm working on right now, the far more massive spreadsheet that has everything but spells, sounds and flysprites in it.

right. i was using the chinese wiki for dom 3 mercs, and then looking up unit stats in the dom3 db.

i figured those two resources together have all the correct dom3 info.

as you mentioned dom2 db is probably good too, maybe only small changes, but why use that if these 2 dom3 resources do the job exactly.

Any ballpark estimate when the database will be finished? No hurry... just wondering.

Ballpark estimate puts the update around the weekend.

Kool beans... this will help me finish creating my nation. I hope to have it finished this month, if my wife gives me enough time.

You shouldn't use accents when you write in pinin, we cannot see them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

BTW I need to go to China finally...

But without the accents it could mean anything http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

That is how my professor writes, with numbers for tones, its ugly but it gets the point across without confusion.

Can you speak Chinese, Zeldor? I am just first semester student. I am very impressed by people who can speak it.

Nah, started to learn it, but had to move and didn't find a chinese teacher here. So I know only simple things.

Attached is the merc list extracted from 3.10. Use this in combination with the unit numbers in the Dom3 DB to get stats.

That list isn't comprehensive! Any list that misses Etimmu and Caractor (the Arch Censor, not Carcator the Pocket Lich) can't be considered comprehensive!

I demand Etimmu and Caractor! And that guy I forget about every time... Alcastos I think his name was!

It's actually missing most of the heroes from the old nations.

You can find all of the heroes in the DB by putting an autofilter on the All Units page and filtering by uniques. It'll also show you all the doom horrors and other uniques such as the elemental royalty, but there you go.

When I read that post I almost backflipped - if heroes were unique this was huge! I could just copystats someone like "master of the games" or "hero" and get to the unique tag that way for my Warhammer Grand Master summons.

But no, heroes are not unique. They only seem so because of the #hero1 #hero2 etc settings. You can build/summon multiples of them, unlike 'real' uniques such as "Treelord" etc.

Give it a test with a mod nation.

#addreccom "Treelord"
#addreccom "Master of the games"

So they don't have the unique flag, Edi.

Ahha! Thanks, that was not something I knew. I assumed them to be unique, which means that the DB is going to get several corrections soon.

I suppose you could copystats Kreon the Warrior Mage, since he happens to be unique (one of Bogus's company) and try to build on that.

Kreon is good, but he's stealthy and I don't think I can get rid of that.

He's nearer than Treelord though, so thanks :]

Ah, you can also use the "Troll Archer" to get unique with only regen stuck on there.

So regen 1% or stealth 0. Interesting.

Code:

------ this one has regen 1%, min 1 per turn

#newmonster 2488
#copystats 648
#clearmagic
#spr1 "./Warhammer Empire/Grandmaster.tga"
#name "Master of the White Wolf"

#descr "Master of the White Wolf description."
#fireres 0
#regeneration 0
#end

----- this one has stealth 0

#newmonster 2489
#copystats 650
#clearmagic
#spr1 "./Warhammer Empire/Grandmaster.tga"
#name "Master of the Knights Panther"
#descr "Master of the Knights Panther description."
#end
