Due to the fact I have problems with unofficial sellers I would like to get the game from official sellers..
Now the price for the game already is a bit highish $55 but ok.. but that gamersfront shop also need another $11.50 to ship it to the netherlands and that is really going a bit over the top for a game for me really.
Are there other official sellers (or at least trustworthy) that don't ask 66.5 combined for a game that is not that graphically advanced:D
yeah I know I'm *****ing a bit about the cash but wtf if I only paid like half of this for oblivion then this is a bit overpricing the game

Amazon? $50 for a game but I don't know about shipping costs [maybe amazon.co.uk has it?]

I got mine on Amazon for $49.99 and free shipping. The kicker was it shipped out of the Amazon warehouse 4 miles from my house. Instant gratification ftw.

Enter "Dominions 3 store" in google for some shops... Here are a bunch of german ones, sorted by unit price:

Maybe you can get the VAT back from your order? But the Amazon.com deal really sounds very good, to be honest.

I bought mine from http://www.tuxgames.com/, they're in England so perhaps shipping would come to less? Not sure if they have it in stock though, or what the current price is.

You might just try looking in your local game store too. I'm pretty sure that here in the US, you can buy it over the counter. I know you could buy Dom 2 that way here.

66.5 US Dollar = 46.85045 Euro

You won't get it cheaper from anywhere in the EU, I'm sure.
Simply order 2 or more games and shipping costs will be considerably lower per piece http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

This post is completely offtopic. ;p
You know, it's kinda funny that the price of Dominions 1 (and 2) hasn't gone down AT ALL since the days they were new. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif
Well, same's technically true for D3 (it wasn't released yesterday), but it's excused because it's the newest installment of Dominions, it has great support (in the form of massive patches, helpful people in the community etc), a very much alive community and so forth - D3 has a lot going for it. I bought it like I bought all the earlier Dominions games because I knew it'd be awesome, and so it is. But... Is anyone actually BUYING D1 or 2 anymore, to even try out the series? Especially with those prices? I don't think D1 and D2 are quite worth the amount they used to be when they were released. We are, after all, at Dominions 3 now!

Let's just say that this thread is being monitored. Make sure nothing else needs to be done.

What's sure is that I have payed three times less for some games, regretting every single cent I had put in it.

The price sticks a bit, but one of the best $/per hour I've played. Diablo, the whole NWN (+mods) series... hmm can't think of anything else thats stayed on my HD this long.

Yeah I must say that the price I payed for my current.. apperantly illegal copy was.. well low I admit.
But the price they ask for this game really IS a bit overpriced. I'm probably nearly as fond of this game as all the die-hards who have played this game all episodes but really: the graphics suck.. I admit this game doesn't NEED better graphics and Í'm not missing them OR askingn for them but if a good game with good graphics (I'm taking oblivion as a sample) costs less than this game then IMHO a good game with sucky graphics just should cost less.
And edi this thread is just about the price, the message I send you is what you probably want to monitor but KO himself has gotten the same message so he knows. (he was less strict than you in his reply though.) the fact I'm asking for this games prices should indicate my good intend though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

It is much more expensive to release small amount of copies than a huge one. Dominions is not made by huge corporation. So on one side you pay more but on the other you get a great game, not rushed on shelves, not made for public masses.

still there are more great games, and most are cheaper http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif that is just the thing I'm trying to say http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Yeah, there are many great games that are cheaper.
But there aren't any cheaper and better turn based fantasy strategy games of this magnitude, especially ones with the depth, moddability and the MP capability of Dominions 3. Heroes of Might and Magic series, the Warlords series... They just don't compare. Dominions (even Dominions 1!) trumps them all in my opinion.

Shrapnel Games' blog started with a few articles on niche games. They detail why niche games can't be sold like the mass-market games. And despite everything else, Dominions is a niche game. IMO reading these will give you a little insight to the world of those people who have decided not to lower DomII's price.

Played it today, actually. It was painfully slow with DosBOX, but I recently played it on an old Win NT computer, and it worked like a charm on that one. It's great all right!

That's due to a setting in DosBox. Increase your cycles in your DosBox configuration file to get it up and running at normal speed. There is some other program that you can use to play old DOS games in WinNT, too, it's named VDMSound.

You do know about the command to increase cycles in DosBox (ctrl-F12), right? I'm pretty sure it can run MoM at proper speeds.

VDMSound had memory problems, and DOSbox was too slow even with increased cycles. It's not the first time I've set MoM up, I just want to spend too much time on it today. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I've got other things to do. Yesterday it was Albion (got out of the first island), today it was Master of Orion (I was beaten after the Darloks were voted to lead the New Republic, and my Psilons eventually lost the war).
