Is there a list of the promotions attainable with HOF honors? Over the weekend I got one that I had never seen before and it only gave negative features. (Damn, I've forgotten what it was. It is hell to be on the wrong side of 50.) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Heroic Obesity, Heroic Stupidity... I don't remember any others with negatives in them.

Heroic Obesity gives increased hp rather like Heroic Toughness. Heroic Stupidity is quite rare, but it also has its good points. I think it increases morale and magic resistance.

Thanks Endoperez. That's it. I got Heroic Stupidity, it was the first time I ever saw it.

I was oblivious to its good points. A mundane commander got "awarded" Heroic Stupidity and the major benefit (sic) I was aware of was the reduction in his command skills. IIRC his command skills dropped 75%. After his promotion he wasn't even useable as a ferry leader. IIRC there also would have been a reduction in magic skills if he was a user.

It is pretty cool to have a low probability promotion that isn't real beneficial. I think it is a reflection of real life when people get promoted above their skill set. (Those of us toiling away in the corporate universe are VERY familiar with that and surely wish it was also a low probability event.)

I think Heroic Obesity is an okay promotion, it is fairly common.

Anyway, I am still wondering if anyone has compiled a list of all heroic attributes available for the HOF.

I don't like Heroic Obesity and it's too common for myself.

I don't like the idea of an obese SC (how does he wear is armor ??)

He draws a deep breath and have an enslaved jotun place a foot on his back and pull, pull and *clasp*, there you have your whale bone corset.

Why should it be a prerogative of skinny men to wear armor?

Strange! I think it is one of the most likeable features in the game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I'm still chuckle when I remember the guy that posted about his fatso-assassins http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Does the heroic ability trigger on certain condition?

A lot of my commander took heroic precision. Those have all used either bow or spell (Vines Arrow).

I got some heroic tougness on melee guy... perhaps he got a high crit damage?

I would be happy to see a list of those heroic ability with their conditions to trigger them.

I never got heroic obesity on 200 hours playing time approx. I wish I could trigger it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

It's one of the more comical quirks of the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I've had a heroically obese Jotun scout somehow still sneaking around, no doubt gathering intelligence exclusively in pubs...

I think the various heroic abilities depend on the chassis. Like, units that consume few supplies get Heroic Toughness more often than Heroic Obesity, and vice versa. I'm not sure what someone would have to do to get Heroic Stupidity, but it's decent for a thug that doesn't have magic. On normal infantry leaders, yeah, it's bad.

Hmmmmmmm. Maybe somebody like an Oni leader with a negative research bonus would be more likely.

Adept researcher is the most irritating ability:
Spenta of Fire... Adept researcher... stay at home?... Attack?.... AAHHH!

I also love legendary cruelty.

Your not getting heroic obesity makes me wonder if there is a nation dependent factor in the HOF categories. It is one of the 4 or 5 common ones for me when I play Bandar Log MA, the nation that I play the most at present.

What nation are you playing?

Who are getting the obesity? Size 3 bandar? That'd work with my more supplies -> more obese heroes theory. If it's size 2 gurus/rishis, who GENERATE supplies, the theory is bogus (but thankfully, doesn't kill anyone).

My experience does not disprove your theory. It is the size 3 Bandar that are getting the obesity. I do not remember any instances where a mage got obesity. And I almost exclusively use the bandar for leading troops into combat, only using the size 2 commanders as ferry captains. My preferred technique is to outfit the Bandar commanders with bows (actually I do this with all the mundane combat commanders I can, no matter what nation I play).
So I can usually get at least 2, sometimes 3 in the HOF in the early game. I always set HOF at 15 so I can get more in also.

It was a size 2 commander that got the Heroic Stupidty though. He got his experience ferrying reinforcements into battle as I was capturing the provinces surrounding the capital.
