I've updated <a href = "http://www.omskivar.org/evil/dom3/catgod.html">catgod</a>, the world's best pretender file viewer, for the new version of Dom3.

Download catgod for <a href = "http://www.omskivar.org/evil/dom3/windows-intel/catgod.zip">Windows</a>, <a href = "http://www.omskivar.org/evil/dom3/osx-ppc/catgod">Mac OS</a> and <a href = "http://www.omskivar.org/evil/dom3/linux-intel/catgod">Linux</a> . Catgod is still command-line only, however, Arralen has written a GUI for it. See <a href = "http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&amp;Board=dom3&amp;Number=529764">this post</a> for details.

Once you've downloaded catgod, change to your pretender directory (usually dominions3/savedgames/newlords), and start looking at files. For example,
<tt>catgod *.2h</tt>
will show them all.

Thanks again to PvK for the Windows build.

The Mac-PPC version should run just fine on Intel Macs. Let me know if you have any problems w/ it.

Please help someone who is obviously stupid.

WHERE do you run the command line. On XP I picked start/run

Then I tried several formats....i.e. catgod C:/programfiles/dominions3/savedgames/newlords/*.2h and it can't find catgod. Is there a special folder I need to save catgods in??? Is the format I used junk?? I did default install and would like to try this. Can someone give me detailed 8^) instructions on how to run this program????? I checked evil dave's link on his sig and it didn't help much, as it doesn't say WHERE you type this. For us old fogeys who are a lil slow with computers, please help!!!!

Use the GUI ..
http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&amp;Board=dom3&amp;Number=529764

It should work as long as you've installed Dominions to "programfiles\dominions3", not "program files\dominions3".
..maybe i should put out a fixed version .. if I find the time .. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

How did you unzip the file? - guess you unzipped the files, but not the folders ..
You should have a folder structure like this:
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
[folder: doc]
|__ readme.txt
[folder: lib]
|__ [folder: inifile]
|__ catgod.exe

application.ini
catgui.exe
</pre><hr />

yes I got that structure, and followed the readme instructions about emptying the .ini file (I only emptied the application.ini file). Still doesn't work.

... about emptying the .ini file (I only emptied the application.ini file)

There shouldn't be any other file named .ini within the catgod folders!
The others are ini.tcl etc. ...

The error is strange indeed.
Please tell me what OS you're running it on etc., and exactly what the wording of the error message is and what you're doing from unzipping up to the point where you get the error.

Should go something like this:

Unzipping files&amp;structure to d:\tools\catgood\
starting catgodGUI.exe
Setting the Dominions directory from "Dominions" -&gt; "Configure Dom Settings" -&gt; "Dom 3 Main Directory : d:\games\dominions"; Newlords directory snaps to d:\games\dominions\savedgames\newlords automatically -&gt; "Return"
Selecting "File" -&gt; "Re-scan ..."
Getting some text displayed

OK...pretty much what I did, except I unzipped in the savedgames folder, not the savedgames/newlords folder. You are right, the only .ini file I have in there is applications.ini. The other ini file is actually ini.tcl and two other .tcl files. I don't think mine newlords directory went there automatically, I think I had to navigate it there, but that is pretty easy. I just clicked on browse and and then opened the "+" signs until newlords showed up and clicked on it. Here is the message I got.

1) Do not unzip catgodGUI into the Dominions folders, unzip it elsewhere. You only need to tell it via "configure" option where the dominions folder is.

2) catgod is found ok, but it cannot read from the newloards directory : You have everything installed to "C:\Program Files\" .. what is exactly the case in which things don't work because of the "space" character in the path name. It's more a bug in Windoze than everything else, but most likely won't get fixed, ever. Therefore we have to devise a workaround, but I'm too busy to work on catgodGUI atm. For more details look here: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&amp;Board=dom3&amp;Number=529764

Workaround for you would be to move the dominions folder somewhere else (no need to re-install, Dominions doesn't really care where it is run from) and adjust your start menue entries accordingly, or make new ones. E.g. move the dominions folder to c:\dominions3 or c:\games\dominions3 or whatever ...

OK...I'll try that.

Thanks

Yep...that worked. Copied the file onto the root directory.

Thanks, Arralen

catgod now recognizes Bogarus.

Download locations and other information about catgod at the top of the thread.
