I can't deliver my turn notification mails to Pangea / Egoix, they are rejected:

Please tell your email provider that what I am sending is no spam and/or whitelist my sending email address, if possible (the same you sent your pretender files to). Otherwise I can't send you turn notification mails and you have to check that you play your turns on your own, increasing the chance to miss the hosting of a turn due to error.

The email problems with Hispavista seems to have since been fixed, I don't get rejection mails anymore. If that has to do with anything you did, Egoix, then thanks.
The game seems to have picked up lots of speed as predicted, the last turn hosted in only ten hours. Have fun!

Is it even possible to play this game without some stupid disaster happening? Arcoscephale just accidentally smashed my army!

He just happened to attack you or was it actually a random event?

A typical "fortuitous encounter" in a neutral province, i guess http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

They just happened to attack the same province in the same turn. This could have been prevented by anticipating the enemies movements better or by diplomacy (outside the game).

I couldn't anticipate the movement of an army I didn't see. I knew we were touching and had turned to draw a line across the map.

Well I have to either say good job to Sivoc or boo on me. I've never had my capital assaulted so early in the game. Well sure, the siege ended up bad for him, but it was certainly a bold move.

It's going to happen to Machaka in two more turns and the outcome is preordained. There's no point in trying to fight it, I went AI.
All, beware, Arcoscephale is spreading like the plague. There's no doubt he's going to get the west and center of the southern piece of land.

Okay, I am removing you from the email notification list.
This doesn't happen automatically, I have to do it by hand. So in case one of you doesn't want to receive the turn notifications anymore because he quit the game, please PM me.

man, i wish that I had checked with Man and tried to get a NAP before attacking C'tis. One or the other...maybe. Both at once...not a chance in hell.

Sorry mate, he got there first!

Well, it looks like it's game over for me. Not even the astral might of Pythium could stand up to Ulm's hordes. I just went AI and will probably be vanquished very soon.
Sivoc

There were a couple of tough battles, but yeah it certainly seems like I'm coming out on the top.
Sorry that I rushed you like that, but its my only chance to carve a bit of space out for myself.
Hope to play against you again, and maybe under more peaceful terms.

so, pangea has staled twice in a row now, what do we do about him?
Sivoc
November 19th, 2007, 04:40 AM
if he stalls another, then put him on AI?
Cicadian
November 19th, 2007, 04:59 PM
I think he's gone. Personally, I say put him on AI now. Call me heartless, but I don't really want to wait another 30 hours!

Yup, I've done so now. Too bad, his game looked really nice. Cool pretender! Nice championship tournament, too, BTW. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The nation of Man would like to trade her surplus death gems for air and fire gems. PM me if interested.

I've moved back to France for one week and a half, but I'm currently locked up behind an awful connection, which means I cannot take my turns until Jan 6. Oops. (More accurately, I can only do HTTP connections, and nothing else. PBEM would work (and be a major pain), but TCP/IP is out of the window.)
Given that I was in a fairly good position (unless something bad happened during the turns I missed), I wouldn't recommend setting me to AI (especially as I border Pangaea, already AI).
On the other hand, one week and a half is a pretty long time to wait, and I've already held up the game on most turns in December. So, I'd suggest trying to find a permanent sub for my T'ien Ch'i. If nobody objects, giving my nation to one of the defeated players might be a good idea.
In any event, I apologize for the problems, and I hope you'll find a workeable solution.
Janlm

guys, what are we going to do with Tien Chi?
Alneyan
December 31st, 2007, 05:35 PM
Assuming the game has run as usual (I can't check), I've missed four or five turns and I'll miss a couple more before I'm back in action. AI Pangaea has been a nuisance and has some big armies, so I'd expect Pangaea to have the upper hand now, and to do a pretty good job at holding down the T'ien Ch'i provinces. (You should be able to check out the Provinces chart to see what's going on over there.)
So, assuming I *have* missed several turns, I'd just set T'ien Ch'i to AI to provide for some minor resistance against Pangaea (the AI doesn't play T'ien Ch'i very well, though, and I've been relying on magic), or just let T'ien Ch'i stale. In any event, all neighbors should be aware that they may find themselves with an AI Pangaea on their borders with access to T'ien Ch'i pretty good gold income and gems.
Again, I'm sorry for the hassle. I hope Pangaea will help avoid the 'jump in for an easy kill and get some nifty provinces' effect.

i don't think you have, can't remember when the last turn was, but it has been a while now... before christmas i think.. I don't know what is happening.

I have stopped the timers for all my games on the 24th of December, and I will resume the timers for the games on the 2nd of January again, which is in less than 24 hours. Although for this game you might want to wait until the 6th to allow Alneyan to play again.
Janlm

Yeah we might as well wait for him

January 2nd, 2008, 05:49 PM
I've just checked the calendar and it turns out I'm actually going back on the 4th (I thought it was the 5th). So, I should send my turn on Jan 5, probably before 02:00 GMT and definitely by 12:00.
Alneyan
January 4th, 2008, 09:36 PM
Right, I've got my turn in as planned. I seem to have missed a turn around the 24th and another one few hours ago, and maybe a third one. It hurt some, but it didn't kill me... which is a same, as I desperately need an excuse to explain how I'm getting manhandled at the hands of the AI. Ah, well.
lch
January 5th, 2008, 09:10 AM
No, you haven't missed a turn a few hours ago as I have reset the game timer before that. You only missed one turn. Otherwise the game status page would have told you that you had missed X turns, X > 1. The script is that smart now... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Alneyan
January 5th, 2008, 02:52 PM
Wow, I guess you're right then, and I've been doing worse than I remembered... I know it's certainly not looking pretty at the moment. So, stop taking my excuses away... what am I going to say if an AI kills me in a fair fight? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Does anybody know about Cicadian? He's been stalling the past three turns, despite him being among the strongest factions in this game.
Janlm
January 16th, 2008, 06:56 AM
he keeps stalling, what a shame, so many has just left already..
Alneyan
January 17th, 2008, 03:11 PM
Assuming Man does not return, I'd suggest handing over the nation to one of the players who became nationless of late. Man is by far the strongest nation on paper at the moment, at least until my T'ien Ch'i manages to get Pangaea off their back... (I'm partly trying to save my resources, but part of my woes does come from awful tactics)

January 18th, 2008, 06:47 AM
I'm sorry, I was offline until right now. If somebody is interested in taking over he can have the position, I would have turned him to AI right now if I had made it in time.
lch
January 19th, 2008, 11:14 PM
I have just logged in to turn him to AI, but now I have my doubts... this really seems to be at least one of the winning positions, despite them stalling the last 5 turns (got mad amounts of gold now), with Niefelheim being a worthy contestant. The AI's are unsuccessfully trying to win against armies that haven't moved for half a year... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
It seems like a sub has been found for this game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

January 21st, 2008, 11:48 AM
well tien chi is staling too, so if both tien chi and man is set on ai, that would leave only me and jotunheim really. So it looks kinda bad really, too many quiters..
lch
January 21st, 2008, 12:44 PM
As I wrote, I have found somebody to take over Man. I expect that Alneyan continues playing, as his Jabber icon is usually showing that he's online. No idea why he is staling here.
Janlm
January 22nd, 2008, 10:11 AM
heh yeah i see, and that obviously mean that the nap i had with man is now canceled, this game is broken and i don't really feel like playing anymore..
lch
January 23rd, 2008, 09:40 PM
Well, you could/should engage in diplomacy with Man now. On the bright side, this would be impossible if he would have been set to AI. As you know, the new player is obviously unaware of any pacts previously made as he got the post without any introduction by the former player, who vanished.
Janlm
January 24th, 2008, 07:34 AM
yeah that would have sucked just as much, but it woudln't be as dangerous. I'm just very annoyed that the game has been ruined by leavers.
Anyways, i tried do the onomancy turn with the page you created for me ich, and it worked fine this time, as you said http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Alneyan / T'ien Ch'i has now been set to AI after staling for 5 turns... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif You got both equal amount of gems out of his storage. That was only a portion of what he had amassed!

I know it's very late, but I'd like to offer an apology for dropping out of the game like that (some nasty personal stuff that took a turn for the worse). Rest assured I'll stay clear of all MP games now... Sorry everyone.

I just got back from India (where I've been for the last few months). I'm really sorry I just dropped out without letting you know. It was a last-minute decision on my company's part and everything was a bit crazy in the last few days before I went. I'm afraid I totally forgot
I'm back now and hopefully can get involved in some more MP games - I was having a great time before I had to go . Also I was winning I believe!
Sorry again,
Cicadian

Actually, the game is still in process, I have turned off the timer but Paladin and Tyrael are still handing in turns from time to time. Although it's quite clear that Man is winning.

Ah, I've just looked at your server (love the flash graphs!) and it appears to be pretty much over. I seem to remember being well in front and it seems Tyrael has done an excellent job pressing the advantage. I'm glad you were able to find a sub!
I don't suppose you are thinking of hosting any new games in the near future? If so, I'd be well up for it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The game is finished, now that the last enemy of Man has gone AI. Props to Paladin for continuing to play and holding out so long with a pretender submitted by another player. And congratulations to Cicadian, Tyrael and Mozkito for winning the game, of course.
The game is closed now, the game graphs (http://valhalla.techno-mage.com/webstats.php?game=Onomancy) stay online.
