Mark,

I guess if I am considered one of those "icon geniuses" you speak of, you wouldn't have a pic of the turret would ya..."P 1000 turret ended up at coastal defence battery (Batterie Oerlander) near Trondheim, Norway."? Because evidently that actually was built, by my understand of that statement?

The book "My War is Tank" has a three view of this and other bits of WWII fantasy kit.

Pat,

Care to share it?

Mark, you are a bit off with your dimensions there, its much larger than that. This thing is HUGE!!!!! Its literally a land battleship..lol

dimensions in pixels at the scale of 1 pixel is 6".

length: 229
width: 92

Sorry - it's a library book and my scanner is trashed. You are right though, this thing is a monster.

Gotcha!

Currently it's Battery Örlandet museum, near Trondheim, but the turret isn't from Ratte, it's Caesar turret from Gniesenau with three 280's. Still, the turret should look the same http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
MKB Örlandet (http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/lexington/12/fortresses/soertroendelag/oerlandet.htm)

I'll be damned, I found it on Google Maps!
Austrċt Fort (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=cs&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=Austr %C3%A5t+Fort&sll=63.714393,9.53874&sspn=0.016838,0 .058365&ie=UTF8&ll=63.708439,9.721935&spn=0.002105 ,0.007296&t=h&z=17&om=1)

EDIT: And another pics!

I actually did a Battery Örlandet icon, and when I was done with it, I went...

"Hey, won't this work with Ratte? All I need to do is delete the center gun!"

Mark, you are a bit off with your dimensions there, its much larger than that.

I was actually going with SPCAMO hex-widths = 50m; e.g, this thing is BIG enough to actually be correct scale for the 50m hexes.

Gotcha Mark.....It needs scaled down any ways....LOL. I am working on it in the normal scale for giggles. Should have it done tomorrow.

Well here is the monster in scale with a Panther, Pz IVf1, Bergepanther, & Jadgpanther

Crazy big....no way this monster will be in game.. to scale.

WOW! Well thank you Mark.

That isn't what I am trying to do. I do it to have accurate representations for the community, that might not know all details and can learn from them.

Keep on trying or perhaps we can put our heads together and discuss new techniques to advance our efforts. I didn't get to that way over night...lol.

Well, just now one realisez how HUGE would that 35-meter-long überpanzer be http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif And cannot imagine better bomb and rocket target, the dimensions would make hitting it signifcantly easier http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

BTW did push it through my makeshift size calculator and it gave me size 71 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Do you have the turret and chassis as separate game scale bmps?

oragus
November 24th, 2007, 12:34 PM
Yep, you honestly want them to put it in game? You do realize its almost half the entire game screen long?

What's the problem? The Danuta armoured train is only 14 hexes long at vehicle scale.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I was thinking about using Pyros' movement system for a Russian player vs Ratte AI scenario. I could reverse engineer what you already posted but it would be easier to have the separate bits. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

What's the speed of that monster? You know 1 per turn is as low as you can go.

14 hexes is a far cry from 229 hexes long....lol...but if you want it.. Here it is.

Sorry Oragus, you slipped a couple of orders of magnitude. 35m at 150mm/pixel is 223 pixels not 229 hexes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif A lot more game-able. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Thanks very much for the bmps.

Troopie: various sources say around 40 kph

35m converted to inches is 1377.949/6 = 229.65816~. If any thing I should have made it 230. lol

At least the program called "Convert" says its 1377.949. lol

You are welcome. Enjoy it. Have fun trying to get it to work right. LOL

I can't remember exactly, but I think this is in reference to the usage of terrain "blocking" to funnel the movement of multi-sectioned units suggested by AI in scenarios, suggested by Pyros when the matter of armored trains in WinSPWWII was brought up.

There were a couple of different blocking terrain suggestions but I'm not sure if any were made by Pyros.
What I was referring to was his carefully calculated placement of way points allowing quite precise control of AI unit movement.

For anyone else who went scurrying looking, I think Pat meant "My Tank Is Fight". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Here are the basic files needed to drive around and blow things up. The scenario is called 364 Ratte's nest is is in no way balanced. The 280mm needs a lot more tweaking. I started on the revised German oob, adding AP to the 280 but it's not quite there yet. Very cool to see Russian infantry swarming over this monster.

Sorry for the delay - I see what you mean you can't see it in ShpEdit but it is there in the game. Honestly I can't remember what I did in ShpEdit to set the rotation etc. When I figure out what I did, I'll post her.
