...is there a way to know the actual turn number you are on in SP games? --Without calculating (year*12) + season, that is...; )

If you run with -d, the last few lines of debug output when you start should look like:

ppt: gameturn 16 turn 16
got turn info for player 62
get turn data for player 62 global_mappic SixLands.tga fileversion 309
lands 94 kingdoms 85 units 626 coms 63 [eof]
player 62 has 4 vcrs
Not a sgi pic, 0

I set up a water nation human player with an SC god. The hotseat mode shows the turn.

You have tp babysit it every few turns to keep its research relevant and make a few items to round out an SC, but if you do this you can create a one province empire that can't be taken by the AI.

I actually prefer playing two nations at the same time.

It gives some different gameplay on long game.

The map is divide by two, so the time to conquer it has well.

you can also run with --scoreboard switch and the top of the scores.html file it tells you the turn number
