I am trying to adjust the player 1 start line for a user campaign.

First RTFM.Map Editing Hot Keys table says use the ! key.

I go into the map editor, click on one of the hexes in the "X" row where I want to set the start line then hit the ! key.

Save the map, save the scenario, go to the campaign editor, clear the scenario, reload the now modified scenario and - no change in deployment line.

Second attempt as above but hitting the ! key then selecting the row - no change.

Re-read the game guide - under Variable start lines find a reference to using the % key to change the start line - try steps above with % instead of ! - no change in start line.

At no time did I receive any dialog box or message saying the start line was changed.

So - what am I doing wrong? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I just tried the key and it seems as if something ate it since nothing seems to happen. Looks like I'll have to debugger it. The functionality definitely works, since some of the user campaigns use it AFAIR. Just that the key seems to have gone walkies in the last 3-4 years, since I last ever looked at it!...

Cheers

Ah yes - it is a deployment item, not a map editing thing, so you do it in the deploy screen, and not the map editor screen.

Buy troops (if needed) for any player, enter deploy screen, press "!", answer the question, then try out in a campaign (you won't see any result until the deployment phase in the campaign).

Been a while since I worked on a campaign but iirc you need to enter the hex row after hitting the % key, not place the cursor there.

Hitting the "!" key in the deployment window then entering the row number works.

Thanks
