OK... I know I'm wayyyy out there...

Everything pretty much the same except you can enter the battles "live" as any one of your commanders/units and control them and perhaps influence the battle. Perhaps I've had too much coffee...

PS Anyone else dreaming about this game at night (and I don't mean about the "Earth Mother")?

Best joke I've read on forum. And I do not mean 'Earth mother' swipe.

First-person control would be impossible without redoing all graphics (for almost 2000 units). Control that affected the outcome of battle would be impossible without redoing everything except graphics and strategic view. I also doubt the engine would work just like that on the Wii, because console hardware and OS are pretty different from all of the computer systems Dominions is available for.

But a dungeon game with a small party that is resolved exactly as the dominion battles and with the very same units.
A pool of items at a lab could hold your inventory and you may have money to recruit at the towns.

I'm not so sure about this one. The Wii CPU we know is a PPC variant, and remember that from it's release until 3.06 Dom3 runs fine on PowerPC Linux (at that time apparently the machine they built that version on died [*pause for a moment of pity for PPC linux user*]). So we know the codebase can be built endian-compatible and it looks compiled with gcc, so... why not? There is a linux available for Wii too. The Gfx may be a bigger deal, but they would have to run hosted on some OS, so hopefully the OGL layer would be there already.

I would welcome and would gleefully re-purchase a Dom3 port to any of the current available consoles. PS3 first please http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

E,
Certainly a new engine would be needed. I'm talking leveraging the product's incredible depth in units/spells/items/mythos/etc. and porting to a platform where you could enhance the tactical immersion. If you don't want to partake of the new "twitch" part of the game sit back and enjoy as we do now.

The big downsides are harder modding and MP-PBEM would break.

Maybe Dominions 6 on Wii-VR (Virtual Reality) in 2014.

Nik,
Full disclosure. I'd just like to get some @#&%!#!$%! excersize while I play!

Edit: Corrected grammer and changed @#&%! to @#&%!#!$%!

Oh wow. I would definitely buy that. And it isn't long till we Europeans get DW6.

But yeah. It would be interesting - mixing hack'n'slash gameplay with the Dominions mythos. ^_^

I do... It seems that almost every game I play intencely makes me see dreams. Poor little @ hopping in dungeos with a little white d (from start or as quest), Baldurs, Item Worlds and so on. Dreaming in ascii is funnier than dreaming of arrows, random events and battle views...

Do gamers dream of ascii sheep?
