I have no choice but to post the world's craziest Gargoyle.

For some reason, I doubt that was entirely cost-effective. Pretty cool, though.

You might be right. Maybe. But its immune to petrify! Yay!
In other news, 350 gems is a bit more than a Gargoyle ought to cost.

In the spirit of the thread, the is the nastiest beast I've ever used in a real game. My (insane) opponent threw 11(!) horrors at her, but, well... they stood no chance. I present Matrona, Vampire Queen of Apocalyptic Doom.
In case anyone cares, that is 35/turn regen, fear 35, awe 7, 3 full immunities, vengeance +1, Reinvig 5, plus the stats which you can see for yourself. Oh, and that's befoe buffing.

She has to be from a single player game. There's no way she would have gotten to that power in an MP game.

Whatever, I counter with an S-16 empowered demilich scripted to magic duel and about 50 Telestic Animate preachers and stone idols to win the immortality war with the leftover gems.

Correction - she couldn't have gotten to that power in a COMPETITIVE MP game. If some people just sat around killing 10 AI nations each (mods) and then started messing around with those huge resources they hadn't used for anything and finally decided to try an all-out war against each other...

Big game with bizzare amounts of gems floating around and a big alliance where you have an arcane nexus going can give you enough gems for some hefty empowerment. With one or several wishes each turn it is quite possible to become a wacko-unit. I'd say it is even easier to get there in an MP game, since you would get bored in an SP game, while every turn in an MP game is spent carefully planning yuor exploits.

This explains quite a few things about Dom3 balance... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I guess Switzerland had Arcane Nexus up during WWII.

Rather than empowerment I would be more inclined to think it's due to wishing for magic power. Assuming she could reach S9 with boosters it's only 1000 pearls to get to that screenshot. Arcane Nexus or clamming gone mad could do it.

Okay I'll bite. Heres a silly one.

That lich is pretty cool.
As for the VQ, it was multiplayer, but hardly competitive. There were two players, with hundreds of gems per turn. It was I think about 250 provinces/player.

One petrify would kill her easily, though.

I deleted the game on accident before I could get a screen, but in one single player game as Eriu, I chose for my god an awake Mother of Tuathas with A3W4N3. I was going up against Jotunhiem first and I'm just getting the hang of using SCs myself, so I had her kitted out with the following. I guess this might be considered a budget outfit seeing as only one item cost more than 10 gems:

Sword of Swiftness (extra attack, 10W)
Lucky Coin (Luck 10S)
Rainbow Armor (Reinvig and MR 5A 5N)
Spirit Helmet (Extra ranged attack 25A)
Boots of the Messenger (Reinvig 5N)
Ring of Frost (CR 5W)
Ring of Regeneration (Regen 10N)

I don't really remember her exact stats, but I'm pretty sure most of them were at or around 20, with Defense and MR closer to 30. She had 4 stars of experience by the time it was over.

Now that I look at it again, I probably could have skipped on the Regen ring in favor of a Lucky Charm and better and/or cheaper shield. Since I had access to S2 mages, I could have made a Shroud of Shadows instead of Rainbow armor, but I'd rather have had the extra reinvig. I'm sure with Glamour, Luck and Mistform up, people would have had a hard enough time trying to hurt her anyway.

I want to know though, any suggestions on what I can equip her with using just my national magic (Air, Nature, Water, Earth 1)? In the game I mentioned, I found a site to recruit sorceresses (A2,S2) from, which significantly boosted my research and gave me Astral magic which I did not otherwise have access to.

Well, using those magic paths I would give her: frost brand, vine shield, spirit helm, rainbow armor, boots of flying, ring of regeneration and amulet of resilience.

Script: personal quickness, mistform, air shield (if needed), attack archers.

Here's my seraph SC from a single player game that has degenerated into testing ground for new ideas long time ago. It has served me well by destroying 4330 believers of the false gods http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I think rainbow armor is actually better than the robe of shadows, because anything that is a serious thread to her probably has either magic weapons or uses spells.

I had thought the Vine Shield would have been a good move, but considering I was fighting units with at least 20 STR each, I decided it wouldn't be that much help in that situation. Either way, I'll try that next game with her.

BTW, how about showing us your lowest costing summoned SCs in terms of total gems invested? It'd be nice to see what options we have for a relative bargain.
