To be changed for next game:
-Aegis Shield should be removed as it kills everything.
-Mindless attributes should be removed from commander-golems and gargoyles.
-Arcane nexus should be removed.

IndyPendant
March 3rd, 2008, 02:15 AM
Actually, not to rain on your game Argitoth, but I would recommend against this game for a true newbie. The settings are *all over the place*. Starting out in MP against experienced players in a normal game would be difficult enough, if doable. Trying to factor in the effects of these changes in addition to that? I don't think you would walk away with a positive MP experience, kruton.

(I would join this game--I like the idea of different styles of games--but with 27 provinces per player, easy research, indies at 9, magic at 75...I see this racing to end-game practically before anyone meets anyone else, which is not the way I like to play. ; )

Argitoth

I see this racing to end-game practically before anyone meets anyone else, which is not the way I like to play. ; )

Oh really? Did you read the first post when I said "Game settings are negotiable?"

Hmmm.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/yawn.gif

Lingchih
March 3rd, 2008, 03:50 PM
I ran a single player test game with these settings. It was interesting. I was using triple-blessed Niefel Jarls, and was able to break out against the indies, but it would probably be very frustrating for people using standard troops. The AI could barely even gain a few provinces early on.

AdmiralZhao
March 3rd, 2008, 05:49 PM
Yeah, I ran through the first 10 turns and it was a bit different. The light infantry + archer provinces were not that bad, but the calvary and barbarian provinces certainly could be. I'm looking forward to this game, but I don't think it will be friendly to people who have not yet perfected the art of killing indies.

Argitoth
March 3rd, 2008, 06:04 PM
oh lol, yeah, that's where the noob would fail.

How does it work, this server? Everybody made their move. Buut the next turn is generated by the serves. Is it right to wait next 28 hours , not to speedup?

Argitoth
March 4th, 2008, 01:04 PM
Once everyone takes their turn, the new turn is generated. That is what Quickhost means.

WE NEED MORE PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lingchih
March 9th, 2008, 04:40 PM
We could play with five, but more would definitely be better. Someone else is bound to stale out at some point. This game still looks like fun, with the crazy settings. But never, ever restart a game in progress, unless the game has some serious, unfixable problem. People don't like it.

Lingchih
March 10th, 2008, 09:59 PM
Well, there some benefits to only having five players. That first turn went pretty quickly. We might even get in another one tonite.

Argitoth
March 11th, 2008, 01:52 AM
I'm just glad I regenerated the map. The first map, I could tell, was going to be really lame. Oh, and it's 25 provinces per player instead of 20.

Lingchih
March 13th, 2008, 11:33 PM
Well, Tir is already crowding me. It may be 25 provinces, but we two are pretty close. Not that I declare war on Tir or anything, but the Giants of Niefelheim would suggest that they don't come any farther north.

Xavier
March 13th, 2008, 11:59 PM

Argitoth

I declare war on the unholy nation of Niefelheim. Your arrogance will cost you.

Lingchih
March 18th, 2008, 09:16 PM
Hey, we're Giants. We're supposed to be arrogant. And we declare war on you back.

Argitoth
March 19th, 2008, 01:02 AM
The nation of Agartha thinks that C'tis will be kind! Niefelheim, I have heard news of Agartha sending troops to your home province! However, C'tis will do no business with Agartha. Agartha is an enemy and Niefelheim's home province will be under C'tis rule!

Xavier
March 19th, 2008, 02:38 AM
Niefelheim will be ruled by the Oracles. If C'tis does not withdraw once the armies of Niefelheim have been defeated, there will be more war.

Lingchih
March 19th, 2008, 03:22 AM
Quit bickering, you two. You sound like spoiled kids. You are both going to die at the hands of Giants of Niefel.

Lingchih
March 21st, 2008, 03:45 AM
Well, surprise upon surprise. Niefelhiem is beaten. The Agarthan Petrify armies did surprise us. We shall though, continue to Raid all those who attacked us. We shall not go quietly.

Argitoth
March 21st, 2008, 05:25 AM
Xavier, be careful where you step. Even an undefended province can be dangerous.

Lingchih
March 21st, 2008, 06:01 PM
Hey, you peaceful nations should come see the three-way fight going on up north. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen in a game. You never know who's going to attack you. And all this going on with Indie provinces still open... good ones.

Xavier
March 21st, 2008, 08:29 PM
Argitoth, I'm thinking you're the one that should be more concerned with where you step. I still have half of that army left while as far as I can tell you only just escaped with your mages intact. And that's only because they wisely ran away in time.

I offered you the rest of Niefelheim's lands except the capital and 107, but you declined. If you'd like to negotiate divying up the land in a way that avoids conflict between us, fine. Otherwise, prepare to die. And don't expect an offer as generous as the last one I gave you.

Lingchih
March 21st, 2008, 08:48 PM
You should have taken that offer Argi. It was a good one.

Now, where is my offer?

Argitoth
March 21st, 2008, 09:06 PM
Try to take castle 107, we'll see who is stronger than who.

Edit: Ah, it looks like Niefelheim took his castle back.

Lingchih
March 21st, 2008, 10:01 PM
Yes, we took the castle back, and we killed dozens of Agarthan scum in doing so. Too bad the mages got away. Hopefully they died escaping. The Wrath of Niefelheim is reaching full-steam now. We shall kill every Agarthan we find, until their whole race is just a sludgy spot on the ground. Expect no quarter Agartha.. we may die, but we will take you down with us.

Argitoth
March 22nd, 2008, 05:26 AM
Agartha, now you see the true size of my army. However, that's still only a piece of the pie.

Lingchih
March 22nd, 2008, 07:53 PM
One of my Niefel Jarls just killed Bogus and his troop all by himself. It was hilarious. Too bad he was already equipped, so I didn't get the really good items.

Argitoth
March 23rd, 2008, 04:15 PM
Niefelheim, I am very upset at your actions. You killed two of my priests last month. If you do not explain your actions, your castle in Province 107 will soon be under C'tis rule.

Xavier

Lingchih
March 24th, 2008, 03:40 AM
Niefelheim is very angered that someone else has made their way onto the Hero board. Big N will not stand by idly while someone else claims a hero. We will not fight Tir na Nog, but we will reclaim our rightful place on the hall of fame. Attacks commence this turn.

Lingchih
March 24th, 2008, 04:06 AM
All is well. Niefelheim has all the spot in the hero board again. Many glorious battles.

Wazooking
March 24th, 2008, 09:53 PM

Argitoth

I'll turn off the timer till sunday.

Argitoth
March 25th, 2008, 12:54 AM
Lord Quadasti reports Niefelheim's fortification in just beyond the horizon! The great battle is soon to start.

Argitoth
March 25th, 2008, 02:02 AM
News from the Agarthian front!

Lord Quadisti has reported no opposition, but requested reinforcements to destroy Niefelheim's former castle walls.
The Great Pretender, Zenith has given the command! A new army is soon to dispatch and will arrive in three months.

Zenith has commanded that C'tis armies are to move on Tir Na
Nog's home province as soon as possible.

Lingchih
March 25th, 2008, 02:11 AM
News from the Agarthan front.

Niefelhiem now controls all northern Agarthan provinces. True, our capitol is occupied by Agarthan scum, but they will soon be dead.

Since the initial Agarthan sneak attack, Niefel has lost no Jarls to the Agarthan petrifyers. We can, and have, adapted. The Four Legendary Jarls now attack at will, and our mighty prophet guides them. And Almighty Smaug has returned to this world. His vengeance is legendary.

Argitoth
March 26th, 2008, 05:29 PM
C'tis sauromancers are now conducting polymorphing expiriments on willing subjects. So far, experiments have been going horribly wrong! The chance of death is high, however no deaths have been reported. A few local wizard experts say that this is an outrage and must be stopped. However, Zenith wills it and his will must be done. Experiments will continue as planned.

Argitoth
March 27th, 2008, 12:43 AM
What the hell dood, Agartha left. I just finally noticed this. That is freaking stupid.

Argitoth
March 27th, 2008, 12:47 AM
Lingchih, you better allie with Tir Na Nog

Xavier
March 28th, 2008, 03:04 PM
sorry i took off, but my wife left me at the same time as tir took my capital and killed every single mage there, including my pretender. under the circumstances i decided to just go AI, as i didn't really have the heart to fight a lost battle.

Argitoth
March 28th, 2008, 07:13 PM
Agartha, you went down really fast. From the time you attacked Niefelheim to the time you went AI was not too much time.

Xavier
March 28th, 2008, 07:50 PM
I very nearly defeated Tir in my capital, but I made a few critical mistakes. Live and learn.

Argitoth
March 28th, 2008, 11:02 PM
Well, I plan on starting a game of these settings again if you are interested.

Xavier
March 29th, 2008, 02:28 AM
i am, i did like these settings. would be nice to have a few more than 5 players. send me a pm in case i miss the thread. and yeah...i won't normally ever go AI unless I'm quite clearly in the last few turns with nothing worth doing, but...yeah. my wife told me she was leaving me, and then the next morning I logged in to see I'd lost my attempt to throw off the seige in my capital, and all of the mages who'd survived died while retreating. so I just said, "f*** it" and went AI.

Lingchih
March 29th, 2008, 02:50 AM
sorry to hear that dude. I hope things go better for you in the future. I still hate you for taking Niefelheim though.

Argitoth
March 30th, 2008, 04:44 PM
I hope you enjoyed watching your giant militia crumble to pieces. As you can see, I take battlefield organization very seriously. You will not see a single commander who is out of place, nor a single unit. All of my units have been trained to form perfect geometric shapes.

Lingchih
March 30th, 2008, 09:54 PM
The four Great Jarls of Niefelheim are dead. Though they killed hundreds of Lizards and sent hundreds of undead back to their graves, in the end they all perished under the wave of skelly spam. It was an epic battle, and never once did any Jarl or Niefel even consider retreating.

Only Vanlande the Jarl remains, but Niefelheim will fight on. We did not cave when Agartha took beloved Niefelheim, and we will not cave now, though our outlook is grim.

Argitoth
April 1st, 2008, 01:46 AM
Niklatu, leading a great army toward Tir na n'Og has successfully broken into their lands, but is in need of supplies.

Lord Quadisti leads a second army. After returning home from the epic battle with Niefelheim, a dead hero was given a most respectable burial to commemorate his bravery in the battle. He went behind enemy lines and killed Niefelheim's prophet. However, in the same battle he died trying to flank Niefelheim Jarls.

Lord Quadisti's army will have new recruits.

Lingchih
April 14th, 2008, 03:21 AM
A lone scout watched, as the great gates of Niefelheim opened. This is odd, he thought. Those gates have not opened in more than a year.

Then he saw the reason for their opening. Niefel Jarl upon Niefel Jarl came through those gates, striding with power and ineffable might. Some went North, some went West, some went South, and some went East. As they departed, each saluted the others with the Dead Giant Walking salute. None expected to see each other again, but each was determined to kill as many of the small folk as they could.

And so went the last march of the Niefel Jarls.

Argitoth
April 14th, 2008, 10:52 AM
And a little gremlin laughs, "HAHAHA! The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Edit: Just as in Lord of the Rings, the Ents were summoned and brought down with fire, so shall the Niefel Giants.

Argitoth
April 23rd, 2008, 10:59 PM
Wazooking, if you are even alive on these threads, just to let you know, my poison golem would have killed your tartarian if he didn't die due to the 50 turn limit.

You probably think your tartarian killed my golem. Look at the battle closely, your tartarian didn't do crap.

no longer interested in continuion this game. The micromanagement is horrible and wazooking continues to use the cheapest tactics in dominions history. That's fine to be cheap, but the thing is that he was being cheap long before anyone else caught on and so it's just an extreme lopsided game now.

Wazooking
May 8th, 2008, 10:07 PM
Not quite sure what you mean by cheap, since I dont really read the boards that much.

The things I avoided that I thought were cheap:
wrathful skies and mists of deception.
arcane nexus.

Dont suppose you would say what exactly was considered bad form?

Argitoth
May 9th, 2008, 08:45 PM
Wazoo, do you want to continue the game? I was waiting for you to show up on the forum. I'm willing to continue it because I actually discovered something that would give you a serious blow. Oh yeah, and I'm still pissed off that your air queen could have died, but Pangaea's Ghost Riders command didn't get registered thus you were able to retreat.

From here on, Arcane Nexus is banned. I'm glad you didn't cast it.

Wazooking
May 10th, 2008, 12:06 PM

Argitoth
May 10th, 2008, 01:17 PM
everything else is fair game.

Server up!

Argitoth
May 11th, 2008, 02:51 PM

Thanks for the good game, glad you stuck with it. You can register yourself as the winner if you feel that you would have won.
