If you commune for extra magic power in battle, does that also increase the number of gems you can use?

For instance, a W2S1 mage can only use 2 gems, so shouldn't be able to cast a theoretical W2 300 fatigue (requiring 3 gems) spell. However, if you made him a communion master and added 2 slaves for +1 magic, could he then use 3 gems, or still only use 2?

Yes, he can use 3 gems.

After his script he can even use gem heavy spells too high level to be scripted (ie : a level 1 air mage master of a 16 slaves communion may cast fog warriors -which may or not be a good thing, considering slaves fatigue- if he has 3 gems remaining in round 6).

I'm not sure what you mean by "too high level to be scripted"

You can always add spells to the script as long as the cast has at least one in all the necessary paths. They won't be cast if he doesn't have the levels/gems to cast them when the time comes.

Twan,

Thank you. A door just opened in my brain.

Strange I was convinced that only spells 2 level above caster level appeared in the list (has it been changed or was it my imagination ?). Anyway you're right all can be scripted.

It may be a confusion with the ability to cast spells just researched in the turn (using the (cast) order or after the script).

All spells have always been visible. I think they were visible in Dom:PPP already...

You can script any spells you have researched when giving orders, but not even spells that are on a level just 1 research point from complete...
