Hello everyone. I have played a lot of SP Dom3 but never MP. I would like to start a multi-player team game with the following settings:

Independent Strength: 9

Magic Research: Default

Gold/Resources/Supplies: Default

All other settings will be at default.

No AI players will play unless a player drops out.

Please post here with your name and the nation you would like to play. Please only sign up if you are new to multi-player games. (Three games or less) before beginning. Check this post for all updated details.

Well this certainly sounds interesting. I'll have think if I can afford third game timewise though.

Is there any particular reason for indy strength 9? In my opinion it just cuts pretender options down. Either you have good sacreds with great bless or an awake SC god. Anything else will put you at serious disadvantage in the early expansion I think.

Independent str 9 is very interesting, imho. It really does not hinder expansion much. It only hinders reckless expansion.
I think it will make the game very interesting as sometimes special enemies occupy provinces that are not normally seen with lower indie str levels.

Okay, so I'm working out my pretender design and strategy ideas (I have relatively few). Do we get to 24 hours to plan strategy with our teammates before or after we upload our pretenders? It would nice to be able to talk strategy before finalizing pretenders, but I'll go with the flow.

Alright, main post edited for correctness. I originally had this idea of starting a team game, but I scrapped it and accidently left in some of the documentation on the main post. This is a regular game, no teams. Only one standing at the end. Diplomacy is allowed, however.

We will beginning the game at 12midnight tonight, so please be ready at that time. You don't need to actually send in your turn until the next evening at midnight, however.

You will need to get your pretended uploaded within the next appx six hours though.

I apologize for any inconvienience that my poor post has caused.

I got excited about my first online game of dom and forgot...I think I might be able to keep up, but if not, what should I do? Would someone else take my turn for me? Question - I have connected from my PC1, made my move, and disconnected - then I connected with PC2 from another place, but I got initial position again. Will it delete my previously submitted move?

You have to repeat your moves.

Once you hit 'end turn', it sends the server your 2h file and saves your moves. You can always reconnect before hosting and add to your moves/rethink your strategy. (but the server will think that you're done with your move, so don't do this in a game where the server executes when all players are done)

All I can see is that 'Shinuyama has played it's turn', so it appears that you entered your moves in.

I think it hosts 24:00 EST in the case that not all turns are submitted. It should be auto-hosting in the case everyone is done.

I apologize for the server not hosting right away. It should be hosting at exactly 24:00 from now on. I made a mistake on the host config and accidently reset all of the host schedules. They are reset now.

Obviously not, since everyone is finished their turn and it is not hosting. Is there a reason for that kdawg? I guess it does make the hosting intervals more regular, but it slows the game down a bit too.

It's not on auto-host. I know that some people like to play a little and then pick it up later and play a little more (including me). If everyone wants to put it on auto-host we can do that, but for the time being it'll be hosted at midnight.

I'm a true new player so I like to pick up the manual and read about spells I'm researching, nations I'm going to fight, compare statistics on units I'm going to face...

Executor - don't be pesimistic. I was too taken by suprise in how strong the independents are and did not design my pretender accordingly. It will be a tough start.

Looks like Ryleh lost a province or two, probably to a bad event since we don't have anyone else in the water to contest him yet. Which is probably bad since he'll be crazy strong later in the game!! He's already doing fairly well in the rest of the graphs....ugh...I hate water nations! Is MA Ryleh as crazy ridiculous as LA? Hopefully not or we might all be screwed.

Mictlan was curious about my income, lol, I can see why. My graph's going crazy. I've been alternating between under / overtaxing my main province for little boosts of gold that are really important at this point in the game. The unrest goes down quickly enough if you patrol too. It's an interesting little strategy I thought I'd share with you guys free of charge. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif The only other speculation I've got is that Pangaea is probably using his god to research. Other than that everything looks shipshape. Any thoughts / clarifications on what you guys have been up to??

Haha actually I got pretty unlucky in my starting position. Im in a tiny landlocked pond with 1 water province. I've managed to get my god to the big body of water to the south tho. And thats not an unlucky event, it was Shinuyama attacking me. Not much I can do at the moment with my terrible land army.

Anyway, I think those who advance quickly on the graphs now spent their points on awake combat pretenders, and will suffer later in the game. I just saw one passing by, leaving a nice trail of provinces cleared of indies :-)

I've got a couple lands with 8k-10k population, Executor, I guess you just got unlucky. It is usually pretty tough to find high population lands for me; however, in one single player game I found two provinces with like 20k+ pop.

Ulm claims no territory as it's own save the ones bordering it's own province. Those that breach Ulm's capital neighbors will find a army of black steel swiftly to oust the invaders. Ulm does not seek to expand towards the border of Shinuyama just yet, so advance no further and you will not be advanced upon.

In the past three or four days I had a lot of trouble connecting to the server. Before that everything run smooth. But now I get the message that I can't connect to the server a lot. Only today I tried a dozen times over a 5-6 hour period until I finally managed to download my turn. Now it's running fine again, but who knows what it'll be tomorrow. And I don't always have the time to try again later if the server is not working right now. Some days I only have a couple hours of free time and if I don't play then, I won't play at all.

As far as the server is regarding, I contacted the company (which I will never use again for gaming servers) and they said that there will be no more interruption of service without prior notice, and they will move us to a new IP address if necessary.

When I took over you were in a very bad position having two wars against pangaea and shimuyama and man and rlye attacked in alliance just two turns after I took over. Now pangaea and shimuyama are no more, man is AI and nearly done for and rlye's army was destroyed but I couldn't go underwater or they would be history by now as well. Also you had almost no mages and I changed that and am trying to get into the research race but it's going slowly due to your drain 2 scale, which was a very bad choice.

The point of 3 turn NAP is telling 3 turns in advance you are about to attack. It's not a problem you attacked. I would be bored if you hadn't - I didn't spend a single turn in this game without waging a war (more often two wars). I'm looking forward to kicking your ***. It's just a matter of principle.
