Gift of Flight

Has anyone used this new spell, Gift of Flight? I have a nation that can cast it, in an MP game, but I am a bit scared to use it. It seems like it might just send some units into the rearguard, to be overwhelmed.

Cast it on elephant or hydras, then set them to attack rear, something interesting will happen...

I think I encountered a bug with it.

While fighting the AI in an assaination attempt, it cast gift of flight on my assassin http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif. Needless to say it did not help the AI surivive http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif.
