...erver.
I'm a bit short of time lately, and don't have much time to organise new games. However, my server is open for anyone to use, so I really hope people will go ahead and organise games, which I'll be more than happy to host.
In particular there seems to be much demand for newbie games. So, if you're a newbie and want a game, please organise one!
Also there was much clamoring for a "casual" game - one not for real newbies, but aimed at non-hardcore players. If you're interested in such a game, I think you'll get plenty of people signing up if you organise it.
If you fancy organising something completely different, that's also cool!

When are you getting back and able to play? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I have enough games for next 1-2 months, but after that I wan a casual game and there is no really good casual game without llamabeast in it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ah, but Zeldor, maybe I am a hardcore player! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Getting back on April 26th. I'm only away for 2 weeks, but that's enough to make it silly to join any games.

You don't look like one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I doubt I will have enough free time in just one month. Unless some games finish surprisingly fast.

Llamabeast is hardly a casual player. I think we both passed that plateau in Alpaca.
Llamabeast has won at least 2 MP games, so he is definitely not included in the definition of a casual player. It is just his disarming personality allows for great diplomacy.

It will test even his great diplomacy skills to try and pass Arcane Nexus off as a "Oh never mind us, we are just studying botany in the garden. Quite harmless actually. Quite." http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

i wanted to arrange something completely different, but signups were sparse; never got enough to actually make a game out of them.

LLamabeast, thanks for providing this great service. I am getting close to organizing a game - just need to die in Alexander http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif.
One thing I was curious about though is, in order to host a game, is it necessary to edit the map? It seems a number of games I have joined someone has messed around with the map for starting locations, which is something I have yet to learn. I looked through your organizing game FAQ and didn't see anything.

DonCorazon:
It depends on the map, in Alexandria I wanted it to be better than Urapara [look at Abysian location], though it didn't go well either [with some people getting 6 neighbours and others 2].

agree, i want to be able to have a decent map before I start I game. I know from starting SP games if you leave it to the computer you can end up in some sorry spots.

I sometimes bother editing the map, sometimes not. Anyway, it's quite easy. What you do is load up the map in a new game, and note down the province numbers of provinces you think should be used as start positions. Then open the map file in notepad or whatever, and add some lines like this:
#start 74
#start 95
etc, one line for each player. Sorted.
Incidentally the in-game map editor is pretty horrible. Definitely editing the text files is the way to go. There is a guide in dominions3/doc.

Llamabeast, how do I create a game?
Do I create it and then I send you the files to host it? It could be nice if you updated the FAQ.

You just literally tell me you'd like to create it. The only thing I would prefer you to do yourself is to make your own map if you want to use a random one.
So, the procedure is: Tell me you want to start a game, the age/era, and a name. Then I'll set it up to accept pretenders. Then let me know again when all the pretenders are in, along with all the details of game settings, maps, mods etc, and I will start the game.
Updating the FAQ isn't a bad idea, I'll do that sometime.

llama still has enough time to kick my *** with the Tomb Kings though.
The prognosis is not looking good for the poor ogres. Combination of bad luck and the sheer nastiness of some TK units/spells.

Really? I thought things were not looking good for the poor Tomb Kings. You've squashed me into a little corner.

Nah I think the turning point has been reached. The problem is you basically have the exact tools to counter my stuff, whereas Ogre Kingdoms are quite limited and I can't really adapt. Death blessed poison archers is a perfect counter to my expensive sacreds, tomb swarm and skelespam and those sacred immortals means I can't grind you down,... I wouldn't dare go with thugs against death bless poison arrows and scariest of all, the watchers with their paralysis darts.
It's a matter of time I reckon. I'll keep fighting until it's obvious either way though.
I should have realised you'd go with death bless archers and not gone with the pit fighter strat. I could also have done without a huge legion of knights dropping on an army I had worth about 2.5k and completely killing them :]
One thing that is pissing me off is my stupid scrapapults not targetting archers like I tell them to. They seem to prefer firing at the immortal tower shielded guys. That's gnoblars for you though I guess.
