On some maps, the names of the provinces show up as very large fonts on my PC. Just wondering if there was a command to reduce the font size of province names.
Figured most people would have noticed this - most maps I have to keep the names turned off - otherwise its a jumble of text.
Maybe its just my PC /resolution..

Oh, that. I think that people are so used to having them turned off,
they have forgotten the option is there. :-) I certainly had.

With diplomacy, I find it easier to use the names of the provinces are around me rather than clicking through to find the number. But guess I will just keep them turned off.

Unless the .map file is #defaultmapzoom-ed I don't think it is possible to alter the size of the font.

I always play with province names turned on, but you do have to adjust #defaultmapzoom on some downloaded maps before you (or the host) create a game.
I really, really, really wish that #defaultmapzoom & #maptextcol (text color) were part of the game options and saved with the nation's 2h file. Then you could adjust them in game and the settings would be saved with the turn instead of being written in stone with the ftherlnd file at game creation.

9 is the shortcut to turn the names on/off, so I just turn them on briefly when I need them and then turn them off again.

You can also use tab to temporarily display additional information (name, income, etc) on the map.
