Hi,

First I want to thank the developpers for such a great game, I have been playing Dom 3 for a month now and I'm amazed to the deep variety in everything.

I noticed some thing though : there are no units on camels ? We have people riding all sort of creatures but not a single dromedary in all the bestiary. How can this be possible ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

We could have various units : light bedouin like warriors on swift dromedaries, heavy cataphracts dromedaries like the ones used by parthians and Tien Chi could have archers atop the big bactrian camels.
What do you think ?

PS : Any plan to make an Arabian Nights themed nations ?

Thanks again for your game !

What a great first post there. Now I want camels and a 1001 Arabian Nights nation!

Hmm, I wonder if it's possible to give a unit a selective Fear that only affects certain kinds of units? (So the camels can spook horse cavalry with their scent.)

Animal Awe? It wouldn't work on cavalry, unfortunately.

Seem like something that could be easily modded in. All you need is a base camel sprite to modify and add some different riders and barding to.

I've thought a bit about Arabian Nights, but I have no immediate plans for an arab nation. Philistines, Canaanites and Israelites is up next.

Camels are cool though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm in shock. No camels! An outrage I say!

I want 2 goblins with short bows on the back of a camel. And the unit should be overpriced and underperform. That is all.

I know KO likes the more off-path races but really 1001 nights would be so much better than philistines

Camels, genies, magic, flying carpets etc you could make 3 great and different races for each era if wanted

I think an Arabian-themed nation would be great as well.

I'm actually planning a Jinn and Islamic/Arabian Mythology themed nation, I'd love any suggestions that anyone might have, via pm?

my suggestion is to leave any references to islam out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif can only be interpreted wrongly... just go die-hard 1001 nights

I meant islam in terms of vague references to qareen/jann/shaitan/ghul/marids/etc, nothing truly identifiable or that anyone might take offense to.

1001 Nights is absolutely the generic theme, since I think it's absolutely perfect for this game.

I'm 25% done with an Arabian Nights nation... acquiring pictures and developing working images is taking me the longest. I've done lots of reading and research on Persian and Arabian mythology including tales from the 1001 Arabian Nights.

Any donations and/or creations of Persian / Arabian images would greatly help.

What exactly do you need/want?

Yes, I also vote for Arabo-Persian faction!
And I don't think anybody will take offense if it will be made abusive enough... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif
Seriously, Turkish Janissaries are much more thematic for Late Era than Philistines...
And yes, unfortunately, selective fear is probably impossible to mod in...
