View Full Version : First turn, destroyed?

I am in the middle of a generated campaign, assault mission. After finishing with the deployment I click start and the enemy artillery starts firing without hitting anything. While watching the enemy artillery firing I see there are several red marks on the mini map, all that is normal of course.
So, enemy artillery stops firing and I click on start turn. First thing I notice is that perhaps half the red marks have dissapeared from the mini map, thinking that the AI just moved them I wasn't worried, but when I moved the map to look at the units still spotted I noticed several BMP-23A units that when I moved the cursor over them it said "destroyed". For all of the BMP-23As there! There are other enemy units that are fine, but not these BMPs. When I right click on them it still says destroyed. My units haven't fired at any of them yet and I haven't used any artillery or aircraft yet.
What am I missing?

It really would be helpful if you stated who you were playing as and who you were playing against and on what date, since searching through all the oobs for "BMP-23" or "BMP 23" without the dash etc, is a complete and utter pain...

being instantly dead when they appear on map is usually a sign of the OOB designer giving the unit 0 crew, and that can be checked in seconds in Mobhack, provided one knows what actual OOB to look in for whoever uses a "BMP-23A".

I was Greece vs Bulgaria The campaign started in April 2008, and I think the current battle is either April or soon after that.

I have the save files too if needed.

Open Mobhack, open Bulgarian OOB, find BMP-23A unit 67. Crew is 0(zero). Result is a dead unit, as stated in previous post.

Bug will be fixed in the next release.

At least we see how often someone buys Bulgarian BMP-23's http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well I didn't know that when such a thing happens it means there is a problem with the OOB. If I did I wouldn't ask and I would just state the finding.
I didn't know if it was a problem to begin with, thus this thread...

Anyway, thanks for checking.

When I checked all the OOB's I found a total of four units without crews. All have been corrected for the next patch.

Thanks, for the heads up I'll amend my OOB, what are the other three?

Two were Canadian spotter aircraft and the other one I forget offhand but it's all fixed for the next patch anyway.

Aha!! Cdn spotter AC mystery solved, had some problems a while back but thought it was something I blinked and missed and never brought them again.

Thanks, I'll hold off invading Bulgaria as well. LOL
