so is there any place where one can buy game and get downloadable copy (for pc) of it, instead of waiting for several weeks for delivery via snailmail?

Nope.
Do you really think the delivery will take several weeks though? I suppose it might with airmail.

it did for me. And the problem is with customs, partially, and shipment from the US to europe. I think it took at least three weeks to arrive.
And, what is even more annoying, you don't know how much it will cost with all the fees before you buy it.

Erm, why didn't you buy from one of the european retailers then?

don't remember, but maybe I didn't want to search. It was like I had to convince myself right then to order or never would have done it. It's about the only computer game I bought, ever.

Is there any retailshop in Finland, and to be more precise, in Helsinki, where I might be able to pick up copies?

I think they are located in England so the shipping to Finland should be fast. But they seem to be out at the moment.

I don't remember there being any trouble with customs, but it's been a while and I don't remember how long it took before the game was delivered.

It took a week and a half for my game to arrive in Europe.

Same deal for me, and I live in Sweden. But I can recall others having to wait longer. One and half to three weeks of delivery time seems to be a good rule of thumb. No idea how long it takes to deliver to other continents.
The lack of local retailers aside Dominions 3 was hardly expensive for me. I paid about 400 SEK for both game and delivery. That's less then what most games cost at my local store. And considering the mileage I've got out this game I consider that a bargain. Unlike some other games I've recently bought *cough* *Crysis* *chough*...

You may also want to check with Ixsoft (http://www.ixsoft.com) and Store4War (http://www.Store4War.com) .

Heh, it's actually cheaper for me to order Dominions 3
from Shrapnel Games in US then from Pseudonym in Germany.
The Pseudonym price has the 19% VAT included. So you should either add the VAT to Shrapnel's price, too, or divide Pseudonym's price by 1.19 for a fair comparison.

I purchased my copy of Dominions from Shrapnel Games, and the total cost was ~ 45€ (this includes the shipping from US to Finland, and probably the tax too; this is all I paid). This was at November 2007, so prices (and currency values) may have been changed. But since the Dominions price doesn't seem to rise, it becomes more and more cheaper for europeans to purchase it when dollar value drops.

I didn't include VAT? *Looks over his calculation* Errh... perhaps you could post the correct prices just to be safe? Math never been one of my strengths. Is the VAT the same for all countries inside EU?
*Goes to delete his old post*

No, of course not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Here's a table of the rates: http://www.vatcompliance.com/vat_info.html
For more info on the VAT, see http://ec.europa.eu/youreurope/nav/en/business/management/taxation/vat/index_en.html
You probably know it under another name in your own language. "Mervär-deskatt", says the first page, and it's 25% in Sweden.
