Storming a castle and get attacked same turn?

Are you prevented from storming the castle and end up in the battle outside the castle or is there a chance of storming first, and then getting seiged by the attacker?

First battles before castle resolve and then storm castle battles.

In the manual is a section with the turn sequence. I'm not 100% sure but i think the different battle phases (battles after magic phase, battles after movement and siege battles) are listed there.

could you prevent the entire battle for the castle by sending a (small/one man) counterattack to the attacking province?

Nope.

There are just 2 battles in the 2 different turn phases.

The only way you can get attacked during the same turn and sieged is if you get an indie event like barbarians on the same turn as you storm the castle. Or if you had one sometime during the siege, because that invokes a specific bug.

It does not have to be independent. A stealthy neutral will do.

The province I was in was attacked by barbarians the same turn as I stormed the castle - ended up with my forces inside (yay!) and the barbarians laying siege. Last mistake they ever made.
