Is there a way to remove a curse?

A curse is FOREVER.

A horrormark technically has a way out according to KO. Apparently one level of horror mark is removed anytime the unit dies during a battle against a horror. Unfortunately most attacks from horrors include astral claws which add extra horror marks.
Perhaps scripting the horror marked pretender or immortal to cast immolation at the start of battle as it hides in a castle waiting for the horror attacks?

Does Ritual of rebirth retain a curse?
How about polymorph by wway of lycanthropy?

FAQ. A curse is PERMANENT. That's because it's not tied to monster ID, but the unique id of the cursed unit. No matter what you do, you can't get rid of it.

Okay! So the key is to simply avoid to get cursed or horror marked. Does magic resistance counter curses and horror marks?

Yes, but eventually one will work.

Of course, getting Cursed on a failed MR check is usually better than getting Disintegrated. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Except for immortals.

I don't MR helps against Curse or Horror Mark. I've never noticed a unit not get the icon if the spell effect hit them.

I would have to agree... when I've seen the spell "Doom" get casted it hits all units. From what I've seen no one can resist.

Hum I thought I already saw the regular curse and horror mark spell fail though.

I'll take a look when back home.

Well, a cursed SC is almost dead. Sounds like the ultimate SC counter if you can't kill them directly.

Cursed SC doesn't really matter that much. Even diseased SCs aren't dead, unless they're undead, in which case disease doesn't have any effect.

Being cursed increases the chance of getting afflictions, but the base chance is proportional to the amount damage taken compared to the max hps of the unit. This means that most SCs have intrinsic resistance to afflictions due to their hp total, and one of the requirements of being a SC is that the unit shrugs off most damage thrown at it.

SCs also have regeneration, eventually. It will help cut down the number of afflictions. And even when they do get afflictions, many are just a nuisance. Fear, limp etc are annoying, but not deadly, some SCs won't mind being Mute and undead and constructs don't care about Chest Wound. Flying undead SCs that work through auras or damage shields, like PoD, can ignore surprising number of afflictions.

Being cursed is inevitable, but you should avoid it as long as you can. Spesifically, don't attack Lizards/Shaman independents with your pretender.
