View Full Version : Communions not working?

I just had a fight where I had 8 communion slaves and two masters. After all the spells were cast, the end result was that fatigue was incurred, a round was spent, and nothing else happened.

Nobody got boosted in their paths, which meant that no BEs were cast, which meant the fight was lost.

The only thing I can think of is that I carried a Banner of the North Star into the fight but I think think it's supposed to destroy communions.

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened? Pretty positive it's a valid battle replay.

I've had banners ad communions together and work both I think

This is really a big issue as it caused a drastic enough change from what probably would have happened elsewise that it would merit a rehosting of the turn. Been in 1st place in my first MP game and this significantly impairs my military machine!

Is there anyone that knows about such things that can help? I'd be happy to send my turn report, etc.

If you don't say anything like :
- casting order of mages,
- spells that you ordered,
- path of mages,
- what happened...

No one can help you. The only thing I find strange is that part of your post : "After all the spells were cast, the end result was that fatigue was incurred, a round was spent, and nothing else happened". It makes me think that you tried to cast communion master on the first turn of the fight (well before all communion slave were cast). That's a cause for failure.

is that so, if you cast (in this order)

CM, then 4 mages with CS.. does that mean you just have slaves and no master?

So you can't cast Communion Master during the same turn that you cast Communion Slave, even if it comes after Communion Slave castings?

That is false, the order of slave/masters doesn't matter. There isn't enough detail in the original post to understand what happened, but that is definitely not it. Read my guide to communions for more information on how they work, it might shine some light on what happened.

Maybe he's expecting the masters to be visibly boosted? If you have 4 Communion Slaves and a 4S Master, the master doesn't display as 6S. However, he is still capable of casting 6S spells on the next turn.

It's really impossible to assess the problem without more data.

I see, the mages were boosted, but just didn't cast the spells for whatever reasons. Sigh.

How many levels of boosting did you need? How many slaves were alive when the mages tried to cast their spells?

Also, make sure they were in the correct range for the spells you were trying to cast. If they aren't in range you can't cast them.

An excellent guide by Baalz. (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Number=577320)

I never used communions before, and now, I am, and it works (almost http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif) perfectly.

So, I hope it will help you.

P.S.: look at this (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=590616&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) ; full of usefull advices, etc.

Renojustin,

You started this thread to ask for advice about Communion and whether there's a bug. We need to know what "the mages" and "the spells" are in order to help.
