Sorry, the games on my server are down. I'm being hosted by Gandalf Parker, and he wrote this to me a few hours ago:

Someone is trying to tell me something. A few days ago my main desktop
computer crapped out on me, and this morning the webserver is down. The
good news is that it seems to be a power problem which means that the
webpages and everything should be ok. The bad news is that [...] I dont
know when I can get the machines fixed.

So I'm sorry, but I can't do anything about it right now. Let's hope that Gandalf manages to recover from this and can overcome the problems soon. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

OK BigDis, you can confess you are the hacker now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

And the typo in the title is interesting BTW. Kind of freudian inversion isn't it ? /threads/images/Graemlins/Running.gif

Sorry to hear that. I had a hunch something might be wrong when I got a 404 on your page, but I was hoping it'd be something more benign that would simply require the server to be restarted.

While this is unfortunate, Ich, you have been very generous in hosting games for us. Hope things work out and that you don't get too many rabid gamers at your throat http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

If this takes long time, would it be possible to resend the email notificatios for the last turn? As a kind of reminder to all the players. It would prevent a lot of stales I think.

I really appreciate your hosting. I hope this works out and that the games can be saved, but if not noone will blame you.

Hi, no news about the games that went down with the server, I'm afraid. I plan to host games again in the future, but I'd like to have the games that were running back before I do. I'll make sure to do more than local backups then, too. As I wrote before, it's not in my hands, as I have no physical access to the server at all. I hope Gandalf is able to recover the data at some time and can transfer it over to me then.

I've been busy for a week and didn't visit the Shrapnel forums during that time, now I'll see that there have been some more threads about this. I'll read up on those now.

The server is back up. I think I have posted in all the threads of the games that have been affected about this. If people want to continue playing their game, we can continue. Nothing has been lost.
