Mistform reduces attacks over 25 damage and magical attacks to 1 point of damage, at the cost of cancelling the mistform. Does anyone know if this protects you from Soul Slay? How about Petrification damage? Has anyone tried combining Mistform with the Stone Sword and Ritual of Returning? I'm hoping that will prevent you from ever losing the sword, but at the same time that combination sounds really weird and unthematic so I'm also hoping it doesn't work.

Soul slay does 999 damage, I think, you see the number pop up, when the unit dies in combat, so mistform could in theory protect you once.
Petrification is an MR check? So I doubt mistform helps at all.
Interesting idea with stone sword/mistform/ritual of returning, I hope it does work, as finding combos like that makes Dom3 great. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yeah, petrification is an MR check, but if you fail it it does 999 damage.
I'm thinking about this because someone mentioned that the Chayot (and probably other #secondshape things like jaguar warriors and skrattir) can survive Soul Slay by burning a form.

It just so happens that I have a sp game that allowed me to test Stone sword + RoR + Mistform.
They don't work together, my Ri suffered 1008 damage and died instantly. Guess RoR doesn't work with stone sword. But I know for a fact that mistform + RoR works.
But of course petrification requires a MR check, which is why mistform doesn't work with it.

Thanks for checking, Fal. Now I wonder: does Mistform protect against MR-checked spells like Cloud of Death? Come to think of it, I think I've seen units take >1 damage from Soul Vortex even while Mistformed (and then they lose the Mistform), but maybe I just didn't notice the first hit that cancelled the mistform since Soul Vortex doesn't show the red numbers.

Maybe I don't get how #secondshape works. I know with jaguar warriors damage carries over from the first form to the second. Watch one get hit, change (see the nice little -X float up), and check his hp. He's mostly likely down a ways.
I haven't seen one get Soul Slayed lately, but doesn't it work the same way.
Thematically it should, at least for the transformers. The Soul is killed and there is only one soul. Riders that leave their mount behind should work differently, but don't as far as I can tell.

Yes dammage carries and soul slay kill all shapes in one shot (seen with machaka hunter knights, dragons and skrattos at least).
Perhaps the angelic being KO spoke about use a special system for his 4 shapes ?

It's been suggested with hydras as well.
Can anyone confirm hydra's either surviving or dying to a single Soul Slay?

I can confirm that Chayot (is that the plural? What's the singular, Chay?) survive a Soul Slay. In fact, it drops them down to 1 HP on the next form, and they usually pick up an affliction like Mute or Feebleminded or Blind in the process. Fortunately Ashdod has access to summonable healers.

Assuming Chayot is meant to be animals, then the singular would be Chaya.
I haven't seen one yet, so I don't know what thematically they should be http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
EDIT: Forums doesn't like Hebrew characters http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

You can view one by typing Shift + U in during a battle and asking for "Chayot".
On reflection, I suspect that the plural form is used on purpose, for a four-in-one being.
