Tien is my fav early age race.

I like a dual bless strategy, with an imprisoned oracle
You can go: F9W9S4, for example or F9S9. I like to go Dominions 6.

I research Conjuration first, to go after the River demon - and basically just spam the heck out of them.

Scales I like +3 -3 +3 +(1-3) -(1-2) (-1>+3)
Growth helps your old age mages survive. However, I usually do not build any celestial mages until after first turn of the new year.

Celestial masters rock! Many of them can cast Acid Rain and all can cast Acid Bolt. Not talking about communion.
I agree with the bless and River demons being first priority.
I like Fire Demons a lot too, but they come a bit later in research.
The nice thing is you can use water, fire and air gems to summon your nation specific sacreds (air for Celestial Soldiers, not the hounds).
