I heard that MA acro is born to counter MA pyhium, but I never played acro, why is it?

Presumably because all of Pythium's mages have some astral and Astrologers have more so they can Magic Duel. That, and tower shields don't help against trampling elephants.

If I remenber well, pyth theurgs have S2, and arch theurgs have S3+.Mystics only have S1(and I can't remember astrologers S level), so I don't think arco could win a magic duel war.
True pythian army gets really squishy against tramplers.

All Astrologers have S3, and a good chance at S4. Astrologers beat Theurgs, and Theurgs casting Magic Duel might just find an Astrologer at the other end and kill themselves.

Asttologers are capital only, cost 180 and are not sacred.
Theurgs can be recruited everywhere, cost 150 and are sacred.
With 1 or 2 levels of difference, the magic duel being a d6+ roll, you have 3 or 4 chances in 6 of killing a theurg, and 1 of both dying if I'm correct. I'm not sure S4 Astrologers are cost effective to magic duel against Theurgs.

Also, while Elephants certainly do trample well - its not my first choice to use them against a nation with cheap 2S. Wont they just paralyze all your elephants in a heartbeat?
