View Full Version : PBEM Campaign Smoke bug?

I've noticed that the following units that normally have smoke in solo play don't have it for the PBEM Camaign I'm undertaking.
Various Pz Gren Squads
Sdkfz 251/2
7.5cm leIG 18
251/9
SIG 38 (t)
the game is set in 1944. Has this been caused by something I've done in setting up the campign. If the file is needed I can post it and then PM the security code if needed.

I'll look into this in the next week or so. The info you provided should be enough. If not, I'll contact you. Keeping a copy of that file handy wouldn't hurt

Good day I'm on the other side of that campaign plus another with Cross which appear to have the same problem. I've attached both, the PBEM Campaign with Blitzkreig is OO5. I'll PM my password.

If this helps you trouble-shoot the problem:
In my first battle with PanzerBob, my core companies of light infantry had no smoke grenades, but a company of pararoop (support units) had plenty of smoke. I put it down to whitehall giving those elite units preference http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif). Only two of my six/eight 25Pdrs had any smoke rounds.
In our second battle my light infantry have plenty of smoke grenades. I figured someone must have complained http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

And do you happen to be player No. 2, who is normally the AI, and has this happened after battle No. 1 in the campaign?.
(If not, that shoots down the theory I was going to investigate when debugging the code later http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif)

Hi Andy,
I believe PanzerBob is playing at least two campaigns, one against Blitzkreig (slot 005), and one against me (slot 002).
I am player number one in our campaign.
In battle 1 I had light Infantry (core forces) with no smoke and paratroopers (support forces) with smoke.
In Battle 2 all my units have smoke, even the heavy arty; but apparantly some of PanzerBob's units do not have smoke.

All our artillery in this campaign is 'on map' artillery.

OK....... that "paratroopers (support forces) with smoke" comment is very helpful. I've been testing this with just core units, no support. If indeed the support units are getting the smoke they are supposed to this may go a long way to figuring out what's gone wrong.

In Cross's and mine campaign in Battle 2 my troops have no smoke Slot 002. None of my Paras in Blitzkreigs and mine campaign have smoke their loadouts state 0.
I've also noticed at least one unit poping smoke with no smoke appearing. I checked after the turn ran though and there was no smoke in the hex.
All Campaigns against the AI I trialed everybody had smoke in their load outs. All my troops in the Campaign against the AI I'm currently playing and the AI partisans have smoke too. Certainly this is a PBEM Campaign quirk that I'm sure you guys will figure out. I have faith in that more than somethings.

So far we've tracked down a couple of things going on. Player 1's units will not get smoke in game one but will get it starting in game two . Player 2 is a different isssue with some unit types getting it after the first game and some not.
Also, this appears to only affect core units. Support troops appear to be given normal smoke "rations"
