That's easy to test, isn't it? Create a test game, backup before a battle where you are testing it, and redo the battle about half a dozen times. Since Luck is supposed to protect in 50% of cases you should have a fairly definitive result then.

Sure it is, but it's even easier to ask http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
I'll test it tomorrow if nobody knows

I'm about 99% certain that Luck protects from EVERYthing. Hit with a ritual on a Lucky commander? Luck helps. A couple of meteors fall on you? Luck helps. I don't think there's one single thing that Luck doesn't get its 50/50 chance on.

Luck protects from damage and Infernal Prison doesn't do any damage. I'm pretty sure that luck SHOULD protect from the items like Infernal Scythe that have "Banish to Inferno" as secondary effect as they cause damage but SHOULDN'T protect against the spells "Infernal prison" and "Claws of Kokytos".

I could have phrased it differently:

My guess is that Ano is correct, luck does not protect from curse, horror mark, etc. It seems to just protect against damage.

FYI, I just did a quick test and Luck does not protect from Master Enslave. I modded a bunch of indies to have MR1 and Luck and they still all got enslaved by my enchantress.
Note that I also tried battlefield-wide Mind Burn. Luck does protect against that, even though it's still MR-resisted, UNLESS damage=999. Therefore, Luck does not protect against Soul Slay (I checked this directly also).

Soul Slay does 999+ damage, therefore it would follow that Luck protects against it. I think Baalz has the right idea that if it doesn't protect against Curse or Horror Mark (I was thinking this myself earlier) then it probably won't against any other 'status' ailment in which damage is not a component.

Renojustin,
I just checked, and Luck does NOT protect against Soul Slay. It also doesn't protect against Mind Burn if you up the damage to 999. Apparently 999 is a special value for damage that bypasses Luck.

Soul Slay and other spells like it (petrification etc) have a listed damage of Death, i.e. resist or die, while luck protects against spells that cause damage but not instadeath. So it does follow logically that luck does not cover soul slay even if the implementation of the instadeath mechanic is 999 damage.

Thanks for testing. I didn't know Luck doesn't protect against insta-kills.
