View Full Version : Paladin: Game started!

Game Type: Llamaserver. (DO NOT PASSWORD YOUR PRETENDERS!)
Speed: 24 hours quickhost for the first 20 or so turns, moving to 48 hours per turn after that (or when 3 players request it). If you stale twice in a row without notice, then you will be replaced or turned to AI.
Era: Early.
Map: Modified version of DireAussie's Lonely Mermaid (attached here), with 99 land and 14 sea provinces, and fixed starting locations.
Players: 7 land, 1 sea.
Nation Selection: First come, first served (post here in the thread).
Victory Conditions: To the death! Or surrender of all players.
Research: Hard.
Hall of Fame: 15.
Renaming: On.
Graphs: On. (Early Age does not have enough indy provinces with Scouts to permit Graphs Off, unfortunately.)
Everything Else: Defaults.
Mods: None.

'House Rule':
NAPs and other agreements are expected to be honoured once accepted. If your playstyle includes violating the terms of agreements whenever you find it convenient to do so, do not join this game. You are free to refuse any offers you wish, but once you make a deal you are expected to adhere to it. You have been warned. ; )

Lonely Mermaid Map:
Random starting positions are terrible for MP games. I have set up 8 specific, random starting locations, 7 land + 1 sea. The starting positions are 8 (sea), 10, 24, 30, 50, 77, 84, and 97. Each starting land province was selected with the following conditions: all have 4 or 5 neighbours; all are 4 or 5 provinces away from other starting provinces; and all (except one) have at least one farm neighbour and one forest/border/mountain neighbour. The starting sea location has 3 neighbours (all are sea), and is 3 provinces away from 3 starting land provinces. (I had to create the .map file for this from scratch, so there may be some mistakes, although I was as thorough as possible. If you notice anything before the game starts, let me know and I can correct it.)

Now let's have some fun!

List of players:
R'lyeh - Pelthin
Caelum - IndyPendant
Pangaea - Jazzepi
Fomoria - Calmon
Mictlan - Executor

Hmm, we are already almost filled!

Pelthin, you have to pick a nation, and quickly. There is only one sea and one land slot left. I'll hold your spot for the next 12 hours or so, but if I don't hear from you by then with a nation choice, I will have to give it to the another player, sorry.

Pelthin

I will go with R'lyeh.

I figure a Sea kingdom might give me a little help against you guys. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks

4 new/newish players and 4 experienced players,
my kind of game! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

@IndyPendant
Whats the problem by giving a password?
I had various occurences in my llamaserver history like X-time sent turnfiles (of the same turn), sudden unplaned turn hosts, etc. Its just a level of security to me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

When someone else takes over your turn because you've staled out or gone AWOL, it's impossible if you've setup a password on your pretender.

Oh, I wanted to join a game and try Niefel. That is bad timing though, some traveling soon, so it would be stupid to join game now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

llamabeast has created the game, so we are good to go! Since we have some players that are various degrees of new to Dom3 MP, here (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=531116) are the instructions for setting up a pretender on the llamaserver.

Have fun all, and be prepared to fall under the wing of khaos! (Heh.)

Thank you guys for filling this up so fast. I'm a big fan of this map, and Indy's games. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Luckily it's only 8 players, so a little restraint went a long way..... Have fun you guys, especially R'lyeh, you'll have a difficult time getting out of your bathtub prison in EA..... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

Pretender sent. One more (Helheim/Ossa) to go!

IndyPendant
July 9th, 2008, 10:43 PM
Ossa, I'm going to give you another 12 hours or so to get your pretender uploaded, then I'm going to replace you if you do not.

I'm sorry if it turns out you have a good reason to be taking so long to upload your pretender--but even if you do, that would still mean you would not be able to properly keep up with a 24-hour turn schedule.

I hope you are ready in time!

IndyPendant
July 10th, 2008, 11:45 AM
Okay Ossa, we have waited nearly 48 hours, and haven't had even a post from you. I'm not going to let this game suffer delays before it's even begun! Best of luck in any future games you may decide to join.

We need one more player to replace Ossa, so I have changed my original post appropriately. We may yet be able to start playing today, depending on how quickly we get a new player and they upload their pretender.

Evilhomer

Sign me up - I will chose nation and upload my pretender in 8 hours from when this post was written (thats when I end my shift).

Nobody else having trouble with this game? Retook and resent it 3 times, same result:

Hello from the LlamaServer.

I received an e-mail from you, but unfortunately there seems to be a problem with it.

Your 2h file appears to be for a game the LlamaServer doesn't know about - perhaps you sent the wrong one?

calmon
July 12th, 2008, 02:58 PM
Did you use the correct turnfile? There was a restart and so a second turn.

Yeah I was wondering how the Tourney worked as well.

I think I made a newbie mistake and sent the wrong guy.

Oh well, never win if you don't play. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hmm, Evilhomer you staled last turn and have not submitted this turn yet. (Hinnom.) You also staled three turns ago, so that you have only submitted one turn out of the last three.

You do have quite a bit of time yet to get the turn in; I'm just checking to make sure there isn't something wrong. I would hate to have to set you to AI...

Edit: oh bloody hell, the unique symbol! Very sorry guys, I read it, meant to do it...and completely forgot. I'll do it now. I don't use them, I just use the "Find" feature to type in a thread name, which is why I hadn't set it up initially.

Is there no end to the maenad invasion, the more we kill the more of them appear,
our beautiful lands are overwhelmed by these sewage femails which are lured by the twisted ways of Lothar,
corpses and skeletons of hideous minotaurs, centaurs and maenads stretch as far as the eye can see and corrupt the beautiful lands of the peaceful Mictlan.

Err...ouch. I didn't even notice Evilhomer staled the previous turn! Why didn't you say something, EH? Yeah, it was a good run--Turn 28!--but I'll change it to 48-hour quickhost starting this turn.

This is acctualy the first time I am killed, I was sure I'd win the battle in my fort, I just overlooked one thing... when I sent my army back to the capital that that would stay and defend the fort... idiot
Well been nice knowing ya, hope I get a chance of a rematch soon.

Heh. I feel like congratulating Jazzepi on winning this game. ; )

I do hope though, that those armies Pangaea has on our common borders are going to stay there, and that our NAP will be honoured. I'm reasonably certain it will be, but just checking in...

Well this game does have a rule about strict adherence to NAPs.

Well...dayam. Sometime in the last few weeks, both R'lyeh and Pangaea have gone AI. (Pangaea surprised me; you looked to be in a strong position for the win!)

Since there is no way Caelum can defeat Hinnom solo in anywhere close to an even fight, I'm going to concede the win to Evilhomer. (Also seems only fair, considering how things panned out with our wars. ; ) I'll take second place, I guess.

I hate it when games end in a fizzle like this. Bah. : (

I will congratulate Calmon on putting up one HELLUVA fight with Fomoria though! Damned aircasting giants! I was going to defeat you soon btw, Calmon--but I was going to have to summon Fire Elementals, the King of Banefires, and Amesha Spentas to do so, since you can protect against my Thunder Strikes, my Eagle King thugs aren't a strong as yours, and my army sucks (censored).

Congratulations, Evilhomer!

What ? I won, I think my position was 3rd after pangea and Caelum. Pangea I could handle by earthquaking his huge armies of crap, but mammoths backed by thunderstrike would probably have killed me. Anyways, good game guys, to bad the end was such a fizzle.
