Llama's new splash page enhancements....
Welcome to the LlamaServer!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21st July:
- New admin command: "Force hosting now"
- All admin options for games waiting for pretenders now work
22nd July:
- Fixed previously highly mysterious glitch where occasionally a game would host twice in quick succession
- Fixed recent glitch where the server would always accept pretenders from any Age
- New admin command: "Roll game back to previous turn"
23rd July:
- Made server much more robust to being sent strange files
- Server will now send a warning message if it receives more than one 2h per e-mail
- Greatly improved handling of crashes occurring during hosting
- Finished games will now disappear rather than lurking and causing errors
- Added another protection against turn numbers getting out of sync
25th July:
- Added fake admin option "Set a nation to AI"
27th July:
- Added admin option "Restart game" for recently started games

Although I detest "you rock" type posts, thanks Llama, for continuing to run a fair and well maintained server. It has been a great service for the Dom3 community.

Seconded. Llama deserves both of his "L"'s, possibly even a third, honorific "L".

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be playing nearly as much Dom 3 if it weren't for Llama.

I have often thought the same about Llama's generous efforts. What a great contributor. Hopefully his Physics PhD. is not suffering from our good fortune!

Yea, a big thanks to Llama, the number of games he hosts is fantastic. His games for newbies are a great way to get new blood in the MP scene. Llama server is a unqualified success story.

Thanks guys, you're very kind. It does make a difference, I have to say. Sometimes I tell friends I run a server and they say things like "Oh yeah, and the real trouble about doing stuff on the internet is everyone takes everything for granted and is rude to you even when you're doing stuff for them", to which I happily reply that the Dominions community is an exceptional place, and people here are very polite and kind.
It also makes a difference because every now and again I get wracked by feelings of futility about putting so much time into what is, after all, just a game. But then, if contributing to the community makes things a little better or more fun for other people as well, perhaps it isn't so futile.
Anyway, that list of updates was actually only the non-secret part of the server upgrades I've been working on lately, the secret part being the bit that's taken the most time. I should be able to finish it and make it open sometime this week. Hopefully people will like it.

Hah! You sure know how to raise expectations around here. Passing of the above list as the small, easy, unimportant stuff. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Having been previewed to it, I must say, it's freaking awesome. Anyone who runs game on Llamabeast's server will poo a brick.

Where did you find such a gnarly, jagged looking brick? I think the day that I pass one of those, I'll likely die - the worst death imaginable. O.O Okay, there are worse, but it's really low on my list of "ways I'd like to go.....".

Prune juice. A warrior's drink.
P.S. I find telling llama that he rocks about as strange as saying that the sky is blue or that the grass is green. I think it's become common knowledge. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yes thank you for your great service to us all!
Without this the community may be a lot slower.
