Is there an easy way to find out what happens with the +'s for each extra point in the magic path? I'd really rather not make up a test game for each and hope I can guess.. and I also hope that they arent all just +1 per extra.. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'm pretty sure that most are +1/level. Some exceptions are easy to spot, IIRC there are a few summons that are say 15+ effects and require level 5, and they are actually just 3/level - that sort of thing. Now, on ranges, I think it's more than +1 as well, else 45+ isn't very exciting.
But you know, I'm really going out on a limb here. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I think there's no general rule along the lines of +1/level. Many are more than that. How you can tell, I don't know, short of testing.

Check DrPraetorious' spell database. It depends very much on the spell, but usually for spells that do area-effect damage it is +1 to AoE and +1 to damage per extra level. Cloud of Death is an exception in that it gets +2 to AoE per extra level. The single-target spells generally scale damage up faster than +1/level.
I think this is the most recent version: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/download.php?Number=559948

Thanks for the help http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Taking the test case to read the spreadsheet of 'storm of thorns' shows it is 13+1/level damage, so that part is easy enough. But, storm of thorns is also range 30+, number of effects 7+, and fatigue 20-.
Spell# 767
Spell Name Storm of Thorns
School 2
Rlevel 7
Path1 6
Path2 255
Level12 0
Fatigue 20
Area 0
Effect 2
Range 5020
Precision 0
Damage 1013
Number 2003
Effects? 419
Effects? 0
Effects? 65535
Effects? 0
Special 0
2ndary Effect 47
Mystery 14
So, since damage is '1013' which apparently means 13+1/level then range '5020' would be 20+5/level and number '2003' would be 3+2/level.
I'm guessing that '2ndary effect 47' is some sort of entanglement. No idea what mystery 14 is though.
Thanks again!

Yep, that's correct about damage/range/effects, although I don't know either what secondary effect 47 or mystery 14 is (and I presume DrP doesn't either, yet).

Well you've identified all the elements except fatigue 20-
I wonder if that could be it.

Fatigue is simple. When casting a spell with N more paths than required, you pay 1/(1+N) times normal fatigue. When casting a spell with M fewer paths than required (which happens only in communions), you pay (1+M) times normal fatigue.
