Hi guys
I had thought that I'd posted this last night, so either I forgot to confirm or else its been moved. If it has been moved, please advise.
Basically I just wanted to know if there is a way to increase the campaign core formation size to a bit over 200.
The problem being, a lot of larger formations work out to be slightly more than 200 units, for example a soviet guards tank regiment (3 tank, 1 BMP and 1 SP artillery battalions) works out to be approximately 205 units or so.

Also (might as well ask this while I'm here), is there or will there be an option to either increase depth at the expense of width or vice versa.
I'm well aware that there is a hex limit and anything more than that magic number will make the engine go "pffft", and that you can change the map size right up to 200x160 - what I'm asking is will it be possible at any point to have a depth of more than 160 or a width of more than 200, but not both at the same time?
For example (ignore the fact that I'm not working out the math here) I'd like to have the sizes reversed, so that instead of 200x160 it could be 160x200, or 100x260, etc. etc., since I'm a big fan of battles in-depth.

The campaign core limit is 200 maximum. Max units is 1000.

Nope - those map sizes are what will remain. The limit is something like 36K total hexes in an array - one of the fundamental C limits due to size of smallint or suchlike. Been 5 odd years since we did that, but that was the structural limit, probably because so much of the code was based on 16 bit integers and bytes.

I might be thinking of the total units (ie both http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Is there a technical reason that the core can't be over 200? Seems a bit strange that you can have more support units than you can have core units.
In any case, I'd be happy with 220 or 225.

200 is more than sufficient for a battalion battle-group sized grouping. And having more than that allowed would have you shortly with a brigade of super-troops worth more points than the AI could ever hope to match, most likely unless every battle was then turned into an assault for the human player. It will not be being increased.

i agree with you, 200 is enough for a battalion in my opinion

200 is more than enough for a battalion, not quite enough for a regiment though.
