View Full Version : Strange behavior with a horror

I was making yet another attempt to capture a doom horror with the Tartarian chains.

Once again Phoenix Pyre did not trigger.

I tried again with a new seraph. First try, Kurigi (or something like that) showed up--and then vanished before I ever saw him.

Again, this time he (it's the same one) sticks around. He's got a move 10/2 yet I can't move him anywhere. Also, the menu over to the right vanished, all I had was the buildings/sites info.

My understanding is that there is something with the copy protect that takes out UI elements, did my misbehaving horror trigger that? This is a legit copy, bought direct.

Kurgi? As in, Gift of Kurgi? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

I think you've torn open a rift into the Void, inside of your computer. You may have to contact customer support and have them issue you a new space-time continuum, if you can get through the necessary paperwork before this one collapses into the hungry maw of a Doom Horror. O.O

And your family and neighborhood for that matter.

Remember that you can always rerun the battle multiple times to see if the actual outcome was just a fluke. Create a random unit somewhere on the battle board with Shift+U and then immediately kill it with Shift+K. That resets the random seed. Watch the "new" battle. Repeat.

Doom horrors have a will of there own and are not mean't to be controlled by even gods. Even if you somehow mange to control one, it will only be for a brief time before it turns on you and goes its own way.

Actually, I think it's due to Kurgi having the #immobile tag. That'd explain why he won't move even though he has mapmove. This is a quirk which also works for Oracle and other immobile pretenders (Oracle with Flying Carpet has mapmove 1 but can't move).

I remembered that the turns are saved anyway even when I had to close the program with Windows. I reloaded it, the menus are back, Kurgi still won't move. The lab in the province is gone.

...

He vanished and now I got him back again. Still won't move.

...

Vanished, attacked when called for, showed up with an affliction of having lost an eye and I promptly took out the other one. Again and I've got him back. Still can't move.

...

An ordinary horror shows up (I think I have all the doom horrors in my army) and beats me. No phoenix pyre.

I conclude that something's special about a battle with a doom horror. Phoenix Pyre never works, nor do the Tartarian chains.

Are you talking about slave to unreason because I think you can't use him at all,
Yeah, just checked it in SP you can use all other horrors eater of gods, eater of dreams, maker of ruins... but once you summon Kurgi he can't move or fight or anything,
what's with thet really?

Yeah, that's the guy that wouldn't do anything for me. I think it must be a bug.

I really do not think that it is a bug. KO is probably the only one who could say for sure, but I believe that it is likely thematic and working as designed.

See above. A being can both be immobile and have mapmove. Perhaps not as intended, but the weirdness of Slave to Unreason is so thematic that it'd be a pity for it to be "fixed".

The doom horrors you wish for seem to have a tendency of leaving you whenever they feel like it, and they have a very good attack, cursed luck, does anybody else in the game have that ( someone you can actually use )?

One of the demon lords has a built in weapon with Curse luck, as I recall.

Indeed, only Lord of Corruption has it, flail of misfortune
It would be nice if you could build it, at least as a unique item.

Maybe you can wish for it.
