I've read a few guides mentioning that the Fountain of Blood gets a bonus to Blood Hunt.

Is this true, and if so how large is this bonus?

It's true, but the amount of dousing bonus it gets is unknown. The Ba'al of Hinnom gets +3, so I'd guess +5 or so for the blood fountain. But that's just a guess.

Edi, your DB lists Hinnom's Melqart bonus as +3, and the Pool as +10. I've got no idea what +3 and +10 actually mean though.

Hmm, if the fountain bonus is listed as +10, then it must have been said on the forums sometime in the past. The +3 for the melqart is confirmed by Kristoffer.

The dousing bonus is +x levels of blood magic for purposes of finding bloodslaves. So a fountain with B9 would hunt for bloodslaves like a regular blood mage with B19. Melqart gets the bonus also to blood sacrifice in addition to hunting.

Wow!

So, if Hinnom is invading nasty enemy territory, they can stop to pop up a temple, pull out a Jade knife with a Melqart prophet, and hey presto ... 10 temple checks in the province! That should pop up a few white candles, especially for those who took dom9 like Baalz suggests.

Do both Ba'als and Melqarts get a bonus to hunting? And do they both get a bonus to blood sacrifice? If so, WOW! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

To think, I've been using Kohen as my hunters and sacrificers. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

just the melquart.

the blood fountain will bring in a river of blood, but as it is immobile, you'll be causing massive unrest and population loss (esp. after the patrolling to control the unrest) in your capital. so, very $$$

also, he has a misc slot, so don't forget to give him his dousing rod :p

Archaeolept is correct, it's just the melqart, I remembered wrong. Something you could do with a blood fountain is give it three levels of astral to allow it to teleport (it's immobile, but can teleport), research that quickly and then teleport it to whatever province you want to use as a bloodhunting base. No need to wreck your capital economy and recruitment.

Mmh maybe the vampires deserve a bonus too. After all, they are very well known in the legends for being able to find virgins to enslave with blood and lust...

Fountain of Blood, the Fountain of Blood,
You should be ashamed.
You used to be a Fountain of Blood,
But you just changed your name.
