I had a misfortune to be attacked while bloodhunting, my mages were set to retreat, so when the battle started they retreated but the slaves stayed, I won the battle but now I have the blood slaves as regular units, not as... well not as gems,
and since they caught a large amount of bloodslaves, which is very important me not being a blood nation, is there any any way to make them usable again?

ooh, possibly - but probably not realistically.

in theory, if they are grouped around one of your commanders during a battle

1)they can be used for blood battle magic

2)i've heard that at the end of the battle, if they are near a mage, they can be "re-gemified"; but i haven't actually noticed this as I'm not in the habit of travelling around w/ loose blood slaves http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

the lesson is: move your captured slaves to a lab on a fairly periodic basis

If you have any blood mage commanders, put the squad on "Guard Commander", and place the squad next to the blood mage. In battle, a blood mage will use any blood slave standing in an adjacent square, regardless of which commander brought the slave, and collect any slaves that are still standing next to him when the battle ends.

If you don't have a blood mage commander, but can perform blood sacrifices, assigning them to a priest might theoretically work, but I doubt it.

I think I can confirm at around 60% sure that if a "unitized" blood slave is put around a blood mage, she can be used as gem and she can even be regemified at the end of battle. I think I saw something like this in my last game as Mictlan some times. But I'm sorry I can't give a bigger percent of certainty as I dont give a personal name label to all my employees http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

GoR them and make them blood hunters http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The problem is I don't have many blood hunters, they are all lore masters with rare blood picks that have some boosters, so I always keep them on retreat in case of a attack so they don't get killed.
So I don't know what is better, to risk loosing some slaves on retreat or risk loosing rare lore masters with blood
I did try to put the slaves next to the mage, but they still act as regular troops, and don't get used for the spells

have two scouts, alternating picking up the slaves each turn. Probably wise to retreat rather than risk blood lore masters.

I have a lab so I can move around ring of wizard and other items when needed elsewhere, but I loose 30 blood slaves that are captured in the attack that turn, and thats a lot, considering I'm still trying to empower some imortals, and even a scout can mess me up, bloodhunters retreat one more turn to get back... and if I don't retreat I risk being attacked by a SC.

If there's an SC on the border causing this much pain then perhaps it's time that SC has an unfortunate accident. On a side note Mind Hunt or Disease Demon are very effective spells.

so the blood slaves' captors left during a battle, and the captors were thus unable to administer the drugs that keep the slaves disabled.

the slaves, now able once again, volunteered as normal units? rather than fleeing back to their villages?

must be the Stockholm Effect.

Well, you know how Grumnir can be. In fact, I can just hear him now, screaming at the top of his lungs, flailing his stubby arms around, "HEY! You there! Oy, what's a bunch of frickin little girls doing on my battlefield? Well, don't just stand there and gawk at me, grab a stick or a rock and GET IN LINE SOLDIERS!!!".

O.O

Are there any mindless commanders in the game, I think there is only the colossal fetish god and he has leadership 10,
BUT the blood slaves have a leadership of 40!!!

Oh and NT Jedi, this is a fly in teleport-tax-pillage earth attack and other spells alike war, only 1 border province.
mind hunt against 25 MR I don't think it would work not that I have many who can cast that spell, disease demon I already have a disease dominion, MA C'tis, which makes the use of lore masters or any other indies VERY dificult!
And there are stealthy thugs involved and those damn spies who make unrest, also a problem.

I remember that song!
Pretty awesome scenery too, early in. Too bad they cut so many corners.

You can build a castle in the province, then if it gets invaded your hunters and their slaves don't fight, they just hide in the castle.

and don't forget to put up a temple in the castle in order to increase the speed at which your loremasters become diseased!

Why didn't I think of that? Thanks vfb.

forts are a bit expensinve.

you could also not put all your eggs in one basket. spread your blood hunters into different provinces.
