For a ritual spell cast from a distance, such as fires from afar, what could be used to protect against them?

In the specific case of fires from afar I assume that the following will help:
High protection (base?)
Fire resistance

Anything else? Magic resistance, shield parry, lucky amulet, twist of fate (via a high astral pretender and saints shrouds), armor/helmet/shield protection bonus, other?

I've been blasted by these spells quite often but I'm not really sure what helps protect against what.

Have you looked into the different magic dome spells? If not that's probably what you are looking for.

Domes arent the easiest thing to put up for armies on the move, unfortunately http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Completely depends on the ritual.

Most things that seems like they should work will work (FR vs fire, etc.), though mind hunt seems to beat luck and twist because it's a 1-hit kill thing. Shields also don't beat seeking arrows AFAIK. Think those are the main exceptions though.

Seeking arrows are AN, so protection also doesn't help.

Stealth helps with seeking arrows I think, but that's not something you can put on an army at will unfortunately http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Injured.gif

I believe items that give air shield help vs seeking arrow.

Against mind hunt, have a few scouts travel with your non-astral thugs/sc's if possible. Or a astral mage.

Against fires from afar have alot of chaff to absorb the strikes.
