I know we've had some good AARs and some descriptive writing and so forth-and Dr Praetorius is guilty of producing some quite good fiction concerning his Hoburg nations, so I'm curious if anyone has given writing fiction for Dominions any serious thought?

It gets in the way of my domination of the forum arcade. ;)

I've been interested in doing animations for a while now. I didn't get to the animation school I wanted to, but I did get into a three-year course for doing graphics for games. Next year, I'll have to practice doing projects, and Dominions would make a good fan-video. It's still a long way off, and I'd first have to hook my co-students to Dominions so that I don't have to do everything myself.

Videos could be very nice, Endoperez-do you need someone to help write a script? I could give that a try.

It would be quite a timewaster even if it's planned by people who know what is possible and what not, and what takes time and what's fast. Even if you happened to be a professional 3d artist/designer, it's still way too early.

The Yarnspinners and Yarnspinners 2 games for Dominions 2 were essentially collborative fanfic. Large parts of some of the stories had little to do with the actual game, so they weren't strictly AARs. The stories are still all there in the threads, if you want to read 90+ pages of it.
YS2 was lots of fun, but lots of work. And I miss Sedna and Puffyn.

Ive given it serious thought.
Such as; a combination AAR and Tutorial. Write it as a pamphlet and put the AAR storyline on the left hand pages with the corresponding real game actions on the right hand page. You could upload it to CafePress for free and sell it online getting a dollar or so for each copy that sells.
Now if only I wasnt so lazy.

In what few MP games I played I would write, not so much an AAR, but a fictive story set within whatever nation I happened to be playing. I would embellish details, especially for the early battles, and would create characters who wouldn't necessarily be in the game. Unfortunately, I suck at MP so I only wrote 2 or 3 stories per game before I had to think of yet another way to write up how I was vanquished.
It is fun to do though and is a nice little creative outlet. Often in my MP games, once I wrote a small story to start things off, it seemed to break the ice for other players and they would write stories for their own nations in that game. Very enjoyable. Sometimes I miss it. :D

We need some heralds and loremasters to follow around the better MP players and record their heroic deeds.
That way, those of us who aren't good at MP, or can't participate in MPs, or just want a creative outlet, can still be a part of the fun. And it would give the MP player someone to consult with who's atleast familiar with the game.
