Greetings All, Can someone give me STEP BY STEP instructions on how to download mods for winspmbt/winspww2 and WHERE to install them? I've never done it BEFORE and don't want to screw up my games. I apologize for not being cpu savvy...

I was expecting one of the guys who has created a mod to respond to this as third party mods aren't our resonsibility but which one are you thinking of and maybe I can help once I know what it is. Some will have installation programs like the game itself and some will be zips you have to install but there should be instructions with each type

Hi EJ,

Every mod is different, so it depends what you have in mind.

Are you talking about OOB, icons, sounds, scenarios, maps?

Once we know what you want to install, I'm sure there's someone here that can give you step by step instructions that even the most PC challenged can follow

I'm basically talking about scenarios created by other people....

OK they will be the simplest as usually they are just zipped up. It rare for a sceanrio designer to create and installation program for them unless there are quite a few.

You want to extract them to the Scenarios folder of the game. In some cases third party scenarios will use slot numbers already convered by the game itself. In that case exact them to the temp holding folder that is sub-folder of the scenarios folder first then look for an empty sceanrio slot then rename the files that have been extracted to the temp holding folder with the new slot number

For example you will typically see three files per sceanrio named like this

spscn323.cmt
spscn323.dat
spscn323.txt

If you decide slot 500 is free ( it will be for now ) then rename these to

spscn500.cmt
spscn500.dat
spscn500.txt

then move them to the main scenarios folder and you will be able to view them in the game

Which is probably what confused everyone, since a game mod is a completely different animal from a scenario.

See the Game Guide, link "Installing Third Party Scenarios".

To launch the Game Guide, go to the "Help" tab of the Game launcher utility and press the "Read The Game Manual" button.

 Another helpful suggestion would be to load the game into a different folder than your present game. I call one my CLEAN copy and other my MOD copy. This insures if you error you still have your clean copy or if you PBEM you have the CLEAN copy for that.

:rock:Gotta Love this game
