yandav
August 31st, 2008, 02:49 PM
I'm not really a newbie but I didn't play a lot of mp games ( less than 10, and without much success ). If you think I can fit in this game, I'd be happy to play c'tis or atlantis.

Crust

I would like to change my nation choice to Mictlan.

Bwaha
August 31st, 2008, 08:15 PM
After testing the various nations with this set up, I feel that wer'e done getting players. I'm glad that Crust changed his race, due to the proximity of Arco to Ermor. So please test your position in sp. Then get your pretenders ready. As soon as Llama's server is up I will ask for pretender submissions. There is still time to change your races, if you want. So in closing, I ask if anyone has any suggestions or comments. If you have any problems email me.:D

I check all positions and we have a problem, the map is unbalanced.

If you are still taking in more players i could be interested in joining as Pythium

Quitti

the map is unbalanced, but hey, life doesn't treat everyone equally :)

Bwaha
September 1st, 2008, 12:10 PM
Well the map is really big and that makes up for it.(I think) Also theres almost no farmland, so magic sites will be everywhere. If you guys want we can switch to a new map, I want everyone to have fun, after all thats the point. If I may, I found that the joten will have a poor spot to start. Does anyone have the skills required to move their starting position? barring that, maybe for ballance sake the jotenheim player switch to a water power. (its rather lonely under the seas) So lets come to a concensus. I'm willing to be flexable and fair.:D

Crust
September 1st, 2008, 12:43 PM
Maybe some map without fixed starting locations?

Bwaha
September 1st, 2008, 10:16 PM
Okay, I created a chat room named storm. To get there you go to quick links, then scroll down to flash chat, finally you go to storm...:D Lets try to set a time that we can talk real time. Ive been exploring the maps and think I've a new one but I want to open a better system of communication first.:D Or we can continue if you want. So what do you guys want to do? Start the game or find a new map. I will be at flashchat storm at 8 pm. Pst. I call for a vote, so every player should chime in.:D

I havn't tried the map out yet but I have looked at it and its a neat looking map.

I'm ready to roll, good or bad position doesn't matter I have been the first one out enough times that it only hurts a little!!:D

Quitti

I'm fine with this map, though I won't object if we change it either, the map looks fun but, yeah, very unbalanced.

yandav
September 2nd, 2008, 11:52 AM
I'll play on any map in any position ( I'd be happy to have a good excuse for my premature loss ;) ).
For the nations: I'll play atlantis if there is only r'lyeh underwater with a lot of underwater provinces.
If there is already an other underwater nation or if the seas are small, I'll play c'tis.

Crust
September 2nd, 2008, 12:54 PM
I'm fine with the map.

jmb
September 2nd, 2008, 01:11 PM
I'm ok with the map too.

Bwaha
September 2nd, 2008, 01:59 PM
Okay, its a go. Go ahead and get ready. I've contacted Llama and asked him to start hosting. So as soon as its up send in your pretenders. I expect a little delay due to poeple who want a new race/nation. We are almost ready to go. yandav hold by for the moment, if someone quits your first alternate. Any questions?

Bwaha
September 2nd, 2008, 03:36 PM
Well that was easy. Send in your Pretenders. Lets get to some fun...:D

September 4th, 2008, 07:15 AM
I don't know how the Heck I cheated and if you want the truth it kinda makes me mad that somehow I did.

Those that know me know that I am an hoorable player to a fault and Its to bad because I was actually looking forward to this game on theis neat map.

I am somewhat computer challenged so to think I some how manupulated the files is absurd as I had to contact LLama and be walked thru setting up a new e-mail so I could get turns..forward them to my Road runner and the play them, forward them back and send them in. Thats how little I know about computers.

NOW, I DO have the CBM mod on I think as I am playing in a couple of other games but I thought the new game would only accept the mods you set it for so I didn't give it a second thought (and I am not really sure how to turn the damn thing off now that I have it on and if it will affect other games I am in).

With it messing with my pretender (and saying it was too powerful is laughable as I have never got the knack of a good Pretender yet). I tried to check and see how my pretender had been changed but I don't even know how to do that.

So I will withdraw as I don't want to have anyone think I cheated or am manipulating anything.

I am sorry if I held you guys up I will be setting this game to AI this turn.

Agian I am VERY sorry.

I was wondering if we restart? I like gb, and since wer'e just starting it wont hurt anyone. Comments?:D

otthegreat
September 4th, 2008, 12:15 PM
I'm in favor of a restart.

GB: Don't leave us! To turn on/off a mod click Preferences (in the main menu) then Mod Preferences. There you will see a list of mods. Click on a mod's name to enable or disable it.

jmb
September 4th, 2008, 01:29 PM
I have no problem with a restart. It's too early to be dropping from the game (especially for a wrong manipulation).

GrudgeBringer
September 4th, 2008, 06:33 PM
I would be glad to do that but if I am playing CBM (Conceptual Mod Balance or something like that...it balances out the nations so none are TOOOO strong) and I turn it off will it affect the games I am in? OR after you start are your settings locked in?

I need someone that knows something about computers to let me know...

And THANKS guys for offering a restart (I mean if ya don't have me to beat up that means you have to fight one another!!!)

GrudgeBringer
September 4th, 2008, 06:39 PM
Also, Bwaha...how do you feel about the CBM mod?

It sure makes someone NEW (like me) feel like i'm even with people that know a little more than I do and pick nations that are overwhelming.

However, that being said, if I can turn off the CBM and not affect the couple of games I am getting trounced in I have no problrm with just Worthy Heroes Mod....

llamabeast
September 4th, 2008, 06:48 PM
Playing some games with CBM and some without doesn't cause any problems at all. You don't even need to turn it on and off yourself. Everytime you open a particular game, it automatically uses the mods that game was started with.

Your own mod preferences only affect any new games that you start yourself.

GrudgeBringer
September 4th, 2008, 08:44 PM
OK.....then why did it say I cheated if the mod doesn't kick in if I have it on. It ONLY kicks in IF the host uses the mod...

I would LOVE to say I created a Pretender that was so strong that it made the game say it had to be a cheat!!!

But the reality is I created a very (I don't want to tell everyone exactly that I am playing with) new but average (according to the IRC channel guru's)Pretender.

If you want to start again I will turn off CBM even tho LLama says I don't need to and see what happens...

Actually I am curious to see what will happen!~!!

Let me know guys what you want to do.

GrudgeBringer
September 4th, 2008, 09:16 PM
IRC channel Guru's just said that I have to START the game with or without the mods the game is set with.

After that it doesn't matter what I have set when I draw the game up.

They also said that the main thing CBM does is mess with the points you get to spend on a pretender.

Soooooo I made a pretender under CBM that I couldn't have made under a regular game because it took more points tha the regular game would allow.

Too Bad that was really a pretty good pretender.

If you want to start agian I will design my usual crappy Pretender:doh:

Bwaha
September 4th, 2008, 11:08 PM

Restart complete. Lets get started.:D

GrudgeBringer
September 5th, 2008, 02:04 PM
I turned off CBM and resent my pretender into Storm...

However, We had a restart in MadCradle and had to make a nEW game called MadCradle2 so the pretenders would work.

I don't know about that stuff but thought I would bring it up.

BTW, THANKS guys for restarting!!!!:D

Crust
September 5th, 2008, 03:35 PM
Do I need to re-send my pretender? It does say:

Nations joined so far:
Atlantis
Bandar Log
Ermor
Ashdod
Jotunheim
Mictlan
R'lyeh
Ulm
Vanheim

llamabeast

GrudgeBringer

YEAH I could do that but it would have to be around Noon CST (sorry I don't know how that compares to GMT), and how long we talking going for?

I don't want to guarantee anything, but I think I would be up for a marathon. Is 12:00 CST = 18:00 GMT?

edit: Atlantis remains strictly neutral in the Mictlan - Bandar Log war. That is until one nation is clearly losing of course ;).

jmb

I'm willing, but I foresee some problems with different time zones. For myself, it would need to be the end of the afternoon or beginning of the night GMT.

First My GF 'thinks' GMT is 5 or 6 hours ahead of CST (I think I headr London was 5 hours ahead of me in Kansas City).

Second...why not try a blitz if we can't get everyone, if we have 5 folks we can us a map that is good for 5...6 same thing.

We are still early enough in our game that starting a new game would be like 20 minutes and we would be caught up.

I will be playing Rugby in Aspen the 17 thruthe 21 rst BTW amd will probably have to stale since I will be gone 5 days. I certainly don't want to put you guys on jhold for 5 days (sorry I forgot about this Tourny when I started the game). the reason why Ulm is doing so well and Ermor so badly, is that there is a war going on between them. On another note, the forge of ashod is finally ready and will forge magic items for those who need them.

Quitti
September 30th, 2008, 07:55 AM
We, the Ulm, are simply freeing our brothers from the clutches of evil thaumaturgs and unholy death magic. Black steel will prevail over the undead hordes.

On a lighter note, Ulm can also provide forging up to con4 items at the moment. Contact me (preferably with ingame message) if you need something.

The savage werebeasts of Mictlan brutally attacked territory of the Kingdom of Atlantis last month. In response, our brave soldiers launched a ferocious amphibious assault on Mictlan's interior which, ummm perhaps didn't go exactly according to plan... nevertheless, Mictlan shall be punished! Our cowardly commanders who quit the field have been dismissed(except for the dead ones - that would have been a little difficult) and a new more capable - and as yet nonexistent - force will avenge our shameful defeats. We will not rest until Mictlan's capital has been burned to the ground!

We did nothing until after Atlantis had informed us of their intentions to invade. So far their invasion hasn't been very impressive, with the frogmen losing against our sling-armed province defense. There also was the incident with the bird...

GrudgeBringer

I understand in your ragerness to prove that your a great warrior that you may be new and somewhat impatiant.

However, all I did was dissolve a nap, pull my troops away from your border and let you know i had no intentions of attacking you.

Instead you jumped the nap by at least 1 turn , maybe 2 and have attacked 2 of my provinces with your whole army of 250 men.

You can have them as I have decided that Ulm has meddled in an area where he wants to be the sheriff and we will do battle.

If anyone borders Jotun and wants some easy provinces , this is the time to take them. I have lost the game but will try and bloody Ulm while Jotun grows fat by dishonoring a NAP.

I never take offense from one game to another so we are ok on that and I will hold no Grudge (no pun intended) But I will put you on my dishonorable list and will take that into consideration when dealing with you on treaties in the future for what thats worth.

I think you will find that friends that you can trust goes a long way in this game.

Good luck everyone....

Thanks, We are happy to announce the creation of a new branch of our military. The name of this group is I-E-T-A. This stands for Illithids for the ethical treatment of amphibians. This wing of the Rylah military will consist of star children. Their goal is the elimination of gross polluters in their labs. Too long have the surface dwellers dumped toxic wastes into the oceans. This will stop. The races that donate 100 gold to this organization will be trusted to self verify. Those who don't will be subject to sneak inspections and if found in violation of the clean waters act will be terminated with extreme prejudice. Thank you for your cooperation...:D

While frogs and feathered guys are clashing together, in a spectacularily ineffective way, may I add (The stench of burning frog and jaguar skins come over to Ermorian capitol), the Lands of Ulm are under savage pillaging from the brutes from north, who don't seem to care for their own defense at all. Nonetheless the ordered legions of Black steel will drive them back from our sacred forests.

JotunHeim...I am giving notice that our Nap will end in 3 turns. turn 22 counts as turn 1 counts as turn 1

Stop being a sore loser. Real gentlemen do not use lies and deceit to compensate for their lack of skill or luck.

I attacked you during turn 25. Considering turn 22 was the first turn after dissolving the NAP, fighting was to be allowed during 25, so please stop trying to harm my honor and integrity.

You also seem to have mastered the noble art of oxymorons.

I guess Illithid humor is too deep for surface dwellers. In the interest of improving the intelligence of the surface people we are offering a free tuition to our fine culinary schools. What is this brain eating you speak of? Are you referring to Illithids for the ethical treatment of amphibians? In other continuum's there is a group of humans called P-E-T-A. This stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals. So I don't get your comments. Please clairify.:D

Sore Loser...

You attacked early and it really doesn't matter one way or the other.

I was beat as soon as I saw I was hemmed in. I gave notice and thats that.

All YOU have to do is spend the time to take my few remaining Provinces.

I am having Fun just screwing around with ULM, His Prentender AND Prophet are dead now and he will be spending a lot of time chasing me around. But sooner or later Ulm will prevail and I will go on to another game.

So don't make it personal, its a game and once you make it personal it ceases to be a game and becomes something else.

Your integrity, That doesn't matter to me either as its all subjective.

Recently the false god worshippers, big giants from the desert west from Forges of Ulm, the Ashdod, decided that attacking Ulm was a a good idea. Lately though, having beat the weird horned giants back with very minimal losses, and having started to siege the first castle of the few desert cities that the nation of Ashdod posesses, the priest smiths of Ulm can not but wonder;

"Why did they attack us? What did we do to them? Taking our provinces with force brings them nothing but harm. But they must be repelled, and punished for their insolence and arrogance. There can be no Ashdod in the struggle for godhood."

Cladding their forces in mighty black steel, arming their troops with great black halberds, battleaxes and flails, the forces of Ulm, the worshippers of the True God march forward, towards the desert cities of Ashdod. The false god must be beheaded, his disfigured and flayed head displayed over the prime gate of Capitol of Ashdod. Mark our words, their god shall fall. Storm of iron will wash upon their land, leaving it purged of this false faith once, and for all time to come.

the reason why the nation of Ashod decided that it was time to go to war is because of one simple reason, with no access to any other route of expansion, and seeing what had happened to the nations around you, the council came to a very simple conclusion, either we launch a war now and hope for the best, or die slowly as we watch the game go by while we sit on the sidelines. So we launched our armies, and prepared for what was to come. Though it was a failed attempt, it is better to die fighting, then to die in bed.

As one who is running around with 1 pitiful army behind the Nation of Atlantis lines, with the only fate left to us is to be a big Pain in the backside to Atlantis.

Tying up a Couple of small armies chasing me and playing a game of Chess for the last 8 or 9 turns, Taking a Province..setting the taxes to 200 and moving on.

But the Sands of Time are running out as I slowly run out of options. More armies show on the horizan and our backs our agianst Mountians.

I think of a Spartan Mother talking to her son leaving on his first expedition. "Come back VICTORIOUS....or come back on your Shield"

As you fight on Hunt11 I will be brought back on my shield...but we will see each other agian...in the halls of Valhalla where only those that die with a sword in thier hand may enter!!

A defeat, yeah. It happened due to a stale on my part though.

A brief history of Mictlan:

Expansion went smoothly until Bandar Log was encountered. Then followed a series of mistakes. I kept underestimating the monkeys, and lost a lot of time and troops in battles that achieved nothing.

I altered my strategy, no longer trying to simply roll over them, but out-expand and out-produce. It was working, I think. Then Atlantis and R'lyeh attacked, and I pretty much considered it game over at that point. Even though they were fought off victory on the larger scale was no longer possible.

Rematch would be fun but I might be in too many games already.

Quitti

The map was quite unbalanced, I had lots of farmland in the empire area. But it sure was fun. I had 7 arti/con6 kitted iron angels flying around, but not enough mage power to be much use against Jotunheim at any point. My mages were good in a few things, and that was spamming hell of a lot of spells that kill chaff, but that's it. Jotunheim had lots of SCs before I got my hands on iron angels myself. I think my scouts saw ice devils and other devils around there somewhere. Too bad i would've gotten earth kings next turn, but i doubt they would've made much difference. Provided that Jotunheim didn't have them yet, which i doubt since they don't have any natural e mages.

But I got to admit, it was fun. And that one hilarious 125% forge bonus priest smith did get me some nice items :D (Basically I had +90% forge bonus for all my mages since turn 40-something. So free items for me.)

Oh and for a rematch, I'd like to hop in. With another nation this time. While ulm was fun, it was rather simple. Mass cheap units with awesome armor and weaponry, send them to the fields to get killed, and repeat.
