View Full Version : Losing Commander Buttons

Played quite a bit the other day with no problems (with 3.20).

Today I loaded up the game and the commander buttons on the left are not there, which makes it really hard to actually do anything :p

Restarting the game has them show up, but after a few minutes they disappear. I did change to windowed mode at one point, and that seemed to really screw up the short-cut keys, so I went back to full screen and thats when the weirdness began.

I'll probably do a fresh reinstall/patch, but just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.

Well reinstall didn't really help, it seems when I do a resolution change I lose the ability to use the shift key, and eventually I lose the commander buttons.

Very odd.

Sorry for the multiple messages, but this issue is just odd...

Now when I alt-tab out and back in the dom3 screen is a portion of the full screen and the mouse is 'offset' about an inch down from where it shows on the screen, so I have to put the mouse an inch below what I want to click on.

This is after 2 uninstall reinstalls...

The game seems to work if I just start it and don't alt-tab or change resolution, but if I do anything like that coming back into it gets it all hosed.

I haven't seen anything like that so far, but I have not applied the latest patch yet either.
I would recommend that you submit a customer support ticket here (http://www.gamersfront.com/xcart/support_ticket.php).

The Shrapnel support team has always been quick to respond with help when I have needed it, but with the holidays here in the states (labor day), I'd be patient.

Hope you get it working soon. :)

I have had no problems with the 3.20 patch and I've actually tested things with it. So the support ticket is indeed the way to go.

What is your screen resolution set at? It might be an oddball size that dominions is having problems with. Do you run it full screen, or windowed mode (can you see non-dominions buttons on the screen while you are playing)?

Well I think this is part of my issue.

right after 3.20 came out I upgraded and had no issues at all. The other night I wanted to try it in Windowed mode, but it did not recognize the Shift key (so S was the same as s...). I switched back to fullscreen, and restarted Dom3 and everything was ok for a bit, but eventually I lost the commander buttons.

So I did the reinstalls and same issues, *if* I alt-tab or try resolution changes.

I did a complete wipe of everything in the dom3 folder as uninstall still leaves a few odds and ends, and reinstall repatch... still the same thing.

As best I can tell Dom3 does a resolution change when I start it, even though it should be in the same resolution as I nominally use, however, I don't put this past some issue I have with my (older) system.

I can tell you that when I alt-tab back into dom3 the screen is not 'full screen', but rather a portion of my screen, so I can see my desktop along the edges of the screen, but I can't interact with it, also the mouse pointer is offset from where it actually points to on the screen.

Anyway, thanks for the support even if I'm the only one having this issue ;)

edit: If it matters my resolution is 1152:864, though that is a natural resolution for dom3 apparently.

There's a reason we direct this sort of incidents to Shrapnel Support. Post deleted. Not your fault, I should have locked this earlier... ~Edi
