Heart Finder Sword can be resisted with high MR, does penetration bonus work here?
And does it work on lifeless beings?

1. No.
2. I don't any reason why not, but a quick test game can confirm it.

Does magic resistance help avoiding non-combat spells which have magic damage instead of convential dmg, if there is any?

Not unless the damage is resistable by MR. Magic damage is one type of damage, resistability is also a type of damage. A damage can have more than one type at the same time, such as fire and magic, magic and resistability etc.

If you cast something like flaming arrows which makes your attack
magical and thus able to hurt etherial beings would it still be
considered a magic attack if you had 100% FR?

Yes. Magical is a separate tag. It allows weapons to hurt ethereal beings, and magical arrows have a small increase to precision (the mechanic is not Precision, but something different where the arrow has a better chance of hitting a unit in the square it lands...whatever).

Is this confirmed true? I've never heard of anything like this hidden precision bonus before.

Kinda hard to say whether it's true, but it's in the manual. I don't have it handy to reference a page number, but look under missile mechanics- once it has been determined what square a missile lands in there is a check to see if it hits anyone in the square involving some peculiar calculations based on target size and, IIRC, magic missiles have a +2 on that check.

Page 77 of the manual(look at the attacker calculation). According to a post by KO, Flaming Arrows makes the arrows magical, so they get this small bonus.
