Hi.

Haven't played much Dominions lately, but I'm falling one more time into addiction and I just noticed :

Has the AP calculation changed ? It seems weird. Shields don't seem to increase AP. I'm almost sure they did.

Also, Hydra Skin Armor has only 11 AP. I'm almost sure it was more.

Has it been changed recently ?

Olive I think you have your terminology mixed up. AP is generally accepted to mean Armor Piercing. I think you mean Prot (Protection), no?

The Prot calculation for shields has definitely changed from dom2 if thats what you are remembering? Now, the shield Protection is applied only if the blow is absorbed by the shield. In that case, the hit must over come both the shield prot + unit prot, I believe. I'm not exactly sure what the mechanics of whether a blow lands on a shield or not are. Someone will chime in on that tho...

Shield mechanics are listed in the manual, page 75

Yes, I meant protection. I thought that a few patches ago, when equipping a shield, protection value increased in the commander data sheet. It's not the case. And I also thought that Hydra Skin Armour had a higher protection value than 11. But I'm not 100% sure. I guess I should install an unpatched game to figure out...

Shield protection hasn't been figured into the protection displayed at least since dom2.

I don't know about Hydra Skin, but that you can check in the manual.

It's 11 Prot in the manual too.

Okay, I've read the manual, I guess I had mismatched the defense boost with a protection boost. And it's 11 for the Hydra Skin. I guess my memory is poor - or I spent some times in a parallel universe... anyway, thanks for your answers.

Shields added to protection in dom2.
