Dom3: I'm studying. When I grow up I wanna be a MMORPG! There was a game where I had like 60 players under my skin. It was soooo coool!

KO: Thats nice! I never imagined that. Are you sure you wanna go that way? To be a MMORPG is a highly dangerous occupation. Ninjas, kiddies and bots will enter your system and cause havoc and make you feel cheap. I wouldn't want that to happen.

Dom3: Daddy, I know how to take care of myself! I've seen what can happen. You don't need to worry! I wanna, you know, go my own way. Move away from home and become rich and famous. I will never get rich and famous if I remain here. And I have talent! You can't deny that!

KO: Hmm.

Dom3: OK, here's your birthday present!

KO: Huh?

Dom3: I'm pregnant! I'll call her Dom4!

KO: What?

Dom3: Just kidding! Will I have a little sister? I'd rather have a brother! He's not ugly is he? I hate horror games!

KO: We are not sure of gender yet, but we can call him a he. He has a strain of RPG in his code, more than you actually. Possibly some MMOish traits. I guess it will be easy to spot that you are brother and sister, but no one will doubt that you are different games.

Dom3: Thank my pretenders for that! I hate them MMO's that say I'm just mimicking my sisters, or tell me that I should get some makeup! I'm a WOW-clone! I'm all individual! Get a life already!

KO: Hmm, kay! You wanted to be a MMORPG you said?

Dom3: Well, not a mean MMO. A good one. There are good ones you know. And they are not all exploited and trashy.

KO: OK. Well.

Dom3: By the way, where is my present. Is it a patch? A map? What is it?

KO: Oh, sorry, hmm, forgot. You will have to wait a while. But it will be great when you get it. I promise!

Dom3: Yeah, right. I hate you!

I wonder what a Dominions MMO would be like. What if one player casts Utterdark? Who knows, maybe if everyone takes LA Ermor or some sort of undead then no one would care. Though, with the Hinnom craze, it might be end up in trench warfare, Giants and Enslaved People vs Undead Giants and Undead People. But this is just idle speculation about what it might be like :)

Adept, I've decided that's one of the main reasons I play Dominions-the violence isn't real, doesn't look real, doesn't feel particularly real. I wouldn't want it to. That's one reason I'm so satisfied with the graphics being in the state that they are, and why I don't really want a "unit collapses in a bloody heap" sprite added to the two we have.

My dad lived through the A-bomb scare, and it sucked for him, and he lost one of his best friends in the Vietnam war. His dad lived through two major wars, and it sucked for him even more.

Aside from any opposition to violence, I feel that atomic bombs are truly the weapons of a coward. Yes, using them in WW2 might have saved American lives-it might have saved my grandfather's life, for one-but to do it in such an awful way puts a stain on it that's very hard to wash away.

You can call Dominions violence "cartoonish", relating it to a child. I don't, because I personally feel that graphic violence is the entertainment of an immature mind.

have you not watched the movie war of the worlds? (there was two so you have no ecuse) after a bit of time with the aliens whooping human backside they catch a collection of diseases humans are immune too (AKA AIDS, which only occurs after HIV destroys you're immune system),by not being native to this planet they won't have immunities to the diseases which we are immune too so it just takes some blood to get into the air and watch those aliens sniffle to death.

Agreed. That's an aspect of Dom3 I always particularly liked, dunno why. :D

Ok, first of all, everyone's copying Adept's comment on Atom bombs, and labeling it as mine.
He wrote the comment about 1945, not me, so he deserves the credit.

Second of all, a species technologically advanced enough to cross the gulf of stars, and willing to spend the unimaginable resources it would take to invade a planet, would likely be smart enough to have an immune system that could defeat our diseases. They probably wouldn't even use a natural immune system, they'd have nanobots, or something even better, filling that role. So our diseases would have about as much chance as monkey PD does against fully equipped Niefel Jarls-if those Niefel Jarls were made of solid tungsten carbide, and shot lazer beams from their eyes.

Ofcourse, if it were me planning the invasion, I wouldn't send any of my own people there until my vast robot armies had dealt with most of the resistance.

Third, I've seen the original movie-Tom Cruise is in the remake, so I haven't bothered with the newer version yet-and I've even read the book, a long, long time ago, when I was in elementary school.

With that I can't agree. The "graphic violence" done for a splatter, sadistic, and somehow morbid taste ("Saw" series, Dario Argento's movies) has always disgusted me.
But I see a solid distinction between that one and the "historical" violence of war movies (Private Ryan), the deliberately excessive and unrealistic one of martial arts and action movies, and even the one with an artistic value (300's one with its impressive scenography and rock music). Those ones are ok for me, I'm not of the kind "let's censor all the movies that may hurt children" :D
