Hey all. Just noticed something rather odd, which would've made me freak right out if I was in a multiplayer game..

Just playing around with some AIs I teleported my wraith lord SC (equiped with the pocket lich and some lesser items) off to enemy territory and just left him there racking up kills. I assume the lich horror marked him because he soon attracted the attention of the Hunter of Heroes. The lich's skeletons distracted the thing long enough for him to kill it, but after the battle he had apparently transformed into a Grigori.. Lost his undead status, etc, though he kept his 3 death magic and items. I wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't the Grigori that specifically mentions in it's background that it won't stay long, and true enough the ungrateful sod ascended to a higher plane the next turn.. :re:

Is this usual? Being totally new I've never encountered the Hunter of Heroes before - does he do that to everyone who kills him? Some kind of insurance to make really expensive SC's a risky proposition?

I didn't actually think to save it.. I'm a few turns after it now

So uh, are there any items or random events that could explain it? I was getting ready to quit the game, just repeatedly skipping my turns while checking something so I wasn't reading my message log until the 'Hunter of Heroes' caught my eye. It was definately the actual Wraith Lord, with his gear and magic in Grigori form, not some random hero that had shown up..

I should mention I wasn't using any mods.

nope we've never heard or seen this scenario.
you can try to find a pattern to reproduce the issue, but I doubt you'll have any luck.

There is a super rare bug where a unit gets exchanged for another.

I think the Grigori you are talking about is unit 1, so it makes a kind of sense.

Aha. That makes sense. Thanks for the replies!
