Is there anyway to turn off that fade to battle screen? I don't remember dom2 having that.
Also, is there anywhere on the web that will host games for you? I don't have an extra comp to act as a server.
1 more: In dom2 you could review the magic schools/spells when creating a pretender, can you review them now when creating a pretender in dom3?
thanks!

I don't know how to turn it off permanently, but if you hit Esc while it happens it'll snap off. My computer is a little slow so this saves me precious seconds of my life.

Thanks for the ESC info, not really what I wanted to hear though.
What about the way the arrows when moving an army slowly extends from the army? Can't it just be there when I click?

If you check the multiplayer and aar forum out, llamabeast and gandalf have servers that host games. There are also many threads started there advertising new games if you want to join one without going through the hastle of running it.

It sounds like you have a slow computer. There is not much to do about that, though I've found that running it in a smaller screen tends to help.

I'm pretty sure you can turn the animated arrows off in Options, under visual options.

The game can be started with a few parameters, I'd recommend the following to you:

-a --noanimback Don't use animated backgrounds
-f --nofade No fade effects
--nograss Don't draw the grass

So you'd start the game like this: dom3 -af --nograss
As for hosting games, there are stickies in the Dom3 MP forums regarding that. Quite a few people offer to host games, including Gandalf, llamabeast (for PBEM), myself and others.

Ah, of course I didn't look in the most obvious place!
Thanks rdonj!

I can't find that option.
Is there a command line tag for it?

You can't do this in Dom3?

Of course you can :)
Open the manual... :D
(Ok, that was ironic, but I really find the Grimoire an extremely useful tool)

Here is a list of the command line switches for Dom3.
http://www.dom3minions.com/docs/CommandLine.txt
I like nofade, no credit screen, no animated background, no music (after a couple of years I got tired of that), turning the click volume down, renaming on, changing the color of the plains on random maps to green instead of brown, setting water percantage lower and mountain percentage higher on random maps (creates a maze-like map with lots of choke points), indepts defaulting to 7, magic sites to 75. Oh and running inside a window rather than full screen.

The nofade switch does not work in Windows and according to Johan, that is WAD.

1. So you can't turn off the fade to battle screen?
2. You can't review the magic schools/spells when creating a pretender?
3. You can't turn off the arrows animation when moving an army?
Any info is appreciated.

There is the --fastgrx (fast graphics) switch. But personally I dislike it. It affects everything. The fonts are uglier, the map is uglier, etc.

I don't have a slow computer, I'm just impatient. Wow does --fastgrx make the graphics look crazy! And it doesn't speed up the arrows/fade to battle screen.

You can skip the arrow animation by pressing 'n' or right-clicking on a different province.

Yeah, the arrows aren't really a problem because you don't have to wait for them to finish before you do the next thing.
