how does the advanced era actually work in sp ?
what does it protect from and what does it not ?
seems to me pretty random protects against anything when it feels like protecting ?

If you need to know the technical nuts and bolts details, then the Mobhack help is the place to go usually.
Mobhack Help -> Units Tab -> ERA Paragraph.

Not wishing to sound rude but take half an hour to read the manuel. Realise it may not be your first language but you ask a lot of questions half of which are covered in it. Anything you then dont understand I will be happy to try & explain if you PM me

And if you are interested in how it works in the real world the following article provides a nice summary.

is it possible that tank that does not have been hit in combat with advanced era 8 is hit and the hit ignores era completely and hit's the norma larmor instead ?
"Numbers from 1 to 10 on a facing are ordinary ERA. Numbers from 11 to 20 are Advanced ERA"
i have never seen era valua greater than 8 and that was advanced era
why ?

Yep, it is possible. Random numbers and all that. Check out say front ERA of T-90 (real-life I mean), you'll notice there are huge gaps around the gun for example.

Several times, my Bradley still got destroyed after its ERA "defeated" the heat.

ERA does not always protect against multi charge weapons. To quote the game manual: “Multi charge ATGM have a higher chance of defeating ERA than plain vanilla HEAT.”
Example of a tandem-charge weapon: The Russian RPG-30

The ‘decoy’ (1) detonates the reactive armour and the main warhead (2) penetrates the compromised area.

Actually no, that small RPG-30 rocket is intended to set off active defence systems (AKA CIWS in-game), the weapon itself is plain jane RPG-27 with tandem warhead against ERA.

The small rocket is indeed designed to set off CIWS and the warhead is indeed a plain jane RPG with a tandem warhead. I did not know that CIWS was different from ERA in game terms.

I've just looked up the weapon for the RPG-30. According to ARMS-TASS it is designated the PG-30. Is it the same as the RPG-27 or is it somehow different? The PG-30 and RPG-27 are both 105mm with a tandem warhead.
P.S. When I wrote 'warhead' in my earlier posts I sometimes meant 'weapon.' Sloppy English on my part. I would go back and edit my mistakes - but I'm too late now.

I believe I saw it in one article that was posted on the topic on Tank-Net - generally RPG-27, plus that little rocket.
RUMINT has it that it was designed for a Mid-Eastern customer, that would give most likely Syria or Iran.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Venezuela has also shown an interest in the RPG-30.
The game manual says that ‘Multi charge ATGM’ have a higher chance of defeating ERA than plain vanilla HEAT. I’ve assumed that ‘Multi-charge HEAT’ weapons – such as the newer RPGs – also have a higher chance of defeating ERA. Have I assumed too much? In any case, perhaps I should have used a multi charge ATGM as my example.

Yes, Multi-charge HEAT also has a higher chance of defeating ERA. That's what they are designed to defeat.

See the game documentation:
Mobhack Help->Weapons Tab->Weapons Class-> description of class 20+
(class 23 will be the same as for TA-ATGM, but an RPG version, for MBT LAW/NLAW)
