ok this is a little petty i know...
in real life Merkava tanks are armed thus:
Mk1,2,3-
105mm/120mm main gun
3X 7.62FN-MAG(commander, loader, coaxial)
1X 12.7 M2 HMG(Coaxial above the gun)
1X 60mm mortar
Mk4-
105mm/120mm main gun
2X 7.62FN-MAG(commander, coaxial)
1X 12.7 M2 HMG(Coaxial above the gun)
1X 60mm mortar
now, I realize that there are and will always be 4 weapon slots. the tactical usage of the 60mm mortar can hardly be depicted in the game(since tanks cant fire with no LOS, or am i wrong?). However the 0.5 certiely is avilable...so, wouldent it be better to put the loaderand gunner MGs in one slot(2X7.62 FN-AAMG) and clear a slot for the 12.7mm?
In the Mk 4 definetly there should be no 3rd 7.62 as it dose not exist.

Well at least they're new complaints :D
Read the error reporting procedure in the "sticky" section. If you have something you think needs looking at report it and we'll put it on the ( ever increasing ) to-do list to investigate

just incase yout dont know, the mortar is usually smoke thrower, i dont think it would be a good HE weapon

well, seeing as i have used it in both those roles i can assure you it throws HE, WP, and illumniation just the same. The 60mm is arguably not the fiercest mortar round you can find, but it still goes bang:)

re. 3rd MAG on Merkava 4, there appeared a pic of some new Merk 4 modification, which has roof add-on armor re-configured so that loader's hatch can be opened, so I guess it was in order to mount another MG ;)
(Or it may be just case as with M109 Doher - our modeller's magasine once noted that as for accessories etc., anything goes because Israeli crews are very creative in what to mount on their 109's and no two pieces have the same kit ;))

Israeli tank crew I assure you are not as creative. They might have changed somthing recently to mount the MG(giving it up was dumb anyhow). There were Merkava Mk4 with "laoder hatches" before but they were onl for tank commanders course. was their a seat mounted on the top of the turret?

who would sit on the top of the turret during war? maybe inside the turret?

Then it is likely an "official" mod - as I understood it, the loader's hatch was in field conditions covered by add-on armor in such a way it was permanently shut, but the pic I am talking about (ah, found the thread: http://208.84.116.223/forums/index.php?showtopic=26241).

ok. that is an official mod probably. note the rifle rack on the side that means the loader is supposed to put it there. what that means is the tank was modified so the hatch can be opened. there is however, no 7.62 on the loaders side(or a mount fot that matter), so still only the coax and commanders MGs.
Thats cool, havent seen that yet.

IIRC The Roof mounted seat is for instructors during training Exercises.
