In one of my recent MP games I happen to find my prophet minotaur has more HP than I expected.
I have checked the heroic ability (he has Heroic Agility) along with other possibilities,(GoH and item effects are not existing), yet yielded nothing. The local dominion strength is +1, as the +5 bonus should have reflected.
Any idea or comment?

One of the more confusing mechanics. It might even be in the FAQ.
When dominion effects hps, the effect carries over. If a pretender goes from dominion 10 province to negative dominion 10 province, he will have lots of hp, but his maxhp will be reduced. This means that he is sturdier than normal, but the chance of suffering afflictions is much higher than normal. If he doesn't fight, or ends the fight with extra hp still left over, part of those will disappear. If his current hp go below his max hp, he is healed up to his max hp.

The Dominion based hit point bonus shows what it is for the current province dominion, but the hit points he actualy has are based on the dominion strength of the province where he was last turn.

I know the HP recovering happens after battles in the turn resoultion sequence, thus the pretender and prophet can benefit from the dom of his leaving position during the battle.
In fact I have also checked his HP during the battle, and that was above 50. This made me even more confusing.
Yet Endoperezs words make sense, their "extra HP" do not fully disappear right after the new turn.
So far its clear now. Thank you both.

Wow, does this apply to MR, too?

MR seems to be unaffected. Most attributes are refreshed by entering the battlefield, only the Hit Points are carried over.

Someone commented last time this came up, and my own observations seemed to back it up (when the change is large, it is easier to notice) that the change is not immediate the next turn. As long as your prophet or pretender does not lose the excess HP, they degrade over a few turns, not in just 1 turn.
I never thought of the effect on affliction rate, that's kind of nasty. :o

I'm pretty sure that happens with any kind of hp over max. If you have GoH up and leave your dominion hps drop off, but not instantly.
Same if you've boosted hp through some kind of Life Drain.
