I have played two games as US (after infamy scenario) and no amphib groups avail in reinforcement (one game went well into 1944 w/o US ability to perform invasions).

Yep, I had the same problem in one game. I had the initial 2 or 3, but then no more after that. I suspect a bug, but I have no idea how to repro it.

After one game, I didn't experience this problem. Things were lean in most of '43, and I was worried because the reinforcement report only showed ONE for '43 and no more! But then they started showing up like crazy. Over the course of the next year, I had enough invasion fleets rolling out to take Singapore, Borneo, Leyte, Luzon, Formosa, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Marianas, Truk, Wake, Tarawa, & Espiritu Santo....garnering a B-29 win in November '44.

Just a quick reminder that after the initial amphibs, new units are only scheduled when the existing ones are used, so you will only see at most the next two or three in the reinforcement list.
Once you use a tranport unit in an invasion (or lose it to sinking...) a new one will be scheduled to arrive in a a few months.

I noticed this problem in the two After Infamy scenarios (not in the standard game) as the US player. I got to JUL 44 and still no US AMPHIB Grp. I had a tremendous surface force but unable to invade any Japanese base.....

Msundborg,
I'll investigate. Thanks for the report.

I've noticed that the US seems to get far fewer amphib groups than I would have thought they should. It takes a while to start getting them and then even longer before they start appearing regularly. By the time I've actually got enough to mount invasions, the chance of survival victory kicks in. The Japanese player also retains the ability to get groups until the end. I find the bombing victory pretty tricky to get simply because it's hard to pull together the necessary groups + repair the bases + defend them all in time. I found playing Japan easier.
Also, does Iwo Jima need something special to land invasions on? I've noticed invasions tend to break there often, with ships just showing up there, having no enemies at all, aircraft or navy, and then pressing surface, the board disappearing, and my amphib group gone with no invasion having happened.
The game is great fun though.

Has this bug ever been resolved? I'm played two "After the Infamy" scenarios as the US and not once did I receive any amphib groups.

The problem you're seeing with Iwo Jima may be one that is fixed with the 1.0.1 patch (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=42088). There was a problem if neither side had any aircraft.
The patch will boost your transports a bit as well. Try it out and see if things are more in line with what you're expecting.

I'm running 1.01.
Do I need to take any action to trigger Amphib groups? It's strange that in my two games I had 0 Amphibs availble to US.
btw, terrific game, easy to get into but fun.

I'm curious about something..are reinforcments strictly scripted so they basically arrive the same time every time, or are there enough variables that come into play to make the schedule vastly different from one game to the next?...I still have held off buying this game because I'm concerned about replayability and so having a fluid reinforcement schedule would be a good thing....

I played the After Infamy scenario as U.S. and absolutely no U.S. Amphib groups throughout the entire game, so I confirm this bug.
The game completed with the Japanese surviving past the end date and winning the game.
EDIT:
I checked through the scenario and game files and there's no mention of Amphib groups or SNF's so that means they are hard-coded...:(

This contains a description of how the amphib groups appearing should work.

Has anyone modified the XML file to insure the US/Allies get some amphib capability in Infamy Scenario?
Pretty frustrating to play through it twice crushing the IJN and still lose the game...
Thanks

Yep, I've had this happen since the patch and I've more or less stopped playing as a result. It really is incredibly frustrating when it happens. I can't imagine playing multiplayer and having this happen as well...
I hope there is another patch in the works that addresses this critical issue.

I agree with you on this as well. Very frustrating when this happens in multiplayer.
